Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – February 20, 2017

Turtle girlHi everyone,

It was exactly a year ago a very special little lady came into our home.

This is Blueberry.

She was very, very shy at the time.

She also has very poor vision, which made her frightened of everything.

Like me, she is from a hoarding home.

People hear the word “hoarding” and tend to look away.

It’s ugly, I agree.

But animals in hoarding houses need humans.

Cat Depot’s Community Cat Care goes into these bad situations and helps the cats.

Food bowl in a hoarding houseThis is the type of food plates found in Blueberry’s home.

Bugs thrive in that environment, but cats cannot.

Cats being rescued from a hoarding houseThis is what happened to Blueberry and her family when Community Cat Care arrived.

They were humanely trapped and taken to Cat Depot.

They were tended to medically and then spayed and neutered.

Why am I telling you this now?

Why am I showing you these unattractive moments?

Because now I want you to see this…

Blueberry

…meet happy, healthy, and well-adjusted Blueberry today!

Two of the other cats were named Abbott and Costello.

Abbott and LeviMeet Abbott and his brother Levi.

Costello has a new loving family too.

Abbott and LeviSo, thank you to Cat Depot’s Community Cat Care Team.

Because of the care cats receive when we are in dire situations, we can have happy endings.

Just like Abbott and Costello.

Bow-Tie and BlueberryAnd just like my Blueberry.

Thank you.

Have a happy week!

Love,

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – September 12, 2016

Bow-Tie with his money bow tieHi Everybody,

I have my money bow tie on again, so you know what that means.

I’m hard at work, preparing for the biggest funding of the year; the Giving Challenge.

It hasn’t even started yet, and guess what I did?

I already won Cat Depot $200!

The Giving Challenge asked non-profits to write a story that touched hearts.

Nearly 400 stories were received.

Guess who wrote one of the top twenty stories and got a $200 award?

You’re looking at him!

Bow-Tie with his donation boxBut I’m not finished yet.

My donation box goes everywhere with me.

Any time I have the opportunity to look into someone’s eyes, they drop in coins and bills.

That makes me purr.

Bow-Tie looks at his pastI love giving back to Cat Depot, because they gave me my life back.

The Giving Challenge is the biggest opportunity for Cat Depot to get the biggest reward.

Donations people make during those 24 hours are doubled or tripled!

The challenge starts at noon on September 20, and ends at noon on September 21.

Every dollar makes a difference.

It is very easy to make that difference.

Bow-Tie has money

Humans are lucky, they have mouths and fingers.

So they can call in, or type in an online donation.

The only thing that is important is to do it during those 24 hours.

Bow-Tie smells successYou know my blog isn’t usually about money.

Generally I entertain you with my pleasing purrsonality.

But this is just too important to the lives of my feline friends.

Cat Depot’s goal is to raise $200,000 during those 24 hours, through the matching funds.

Your single dollar can yield them three dollars!

That smells like success to me!

Bow-Tie wears his good luck charmWouldn’t it be great if Cat Depot passed that $200,000 goal?

They can do it, and we can help them.

We’re on our way.

I’m wearing my good luck piece!

Love you!

Welcome tableHi Everyone!

We did it!

We had the Donut Kitty Reunion!

The day was here.

The table was lined with Donut Kitty memories and the donuts (pastry kind) had arrived.

Bow-Tie wants to enter the roomI was there first and waited anxiously at the door for my siblings to arrive.

SprinkleThe first one to come was Sprinkle.

Here’s Sprinkle with Boston’s Dad.

Bow-Tie and BostonThen came Boston.

I loved all of them, but Boston became my best bud.

Boston and SugarBoston was a real lover.

Boston was the one who made Sugar feel comfortable.

She was a little shy at first.

SiyaJelly now called Siya (get it?) was there with her Mom and Dad.

She’s the only one with all that coloring.

So cute.

Dunkin and BostonDunkin now known as Jack came in and went right up to everyone.

Here he is with Boston.

Dunkin is the only one with long hair.

Group photoNot all of the Donut Kitties were able to make it.

But the ones who did loved the party.

Some of the shy Donuts sent their parents to represent them.

They were all honored, talked about, and included in the day.

Boston in Donut bow tieEach Donut was given a beautiful gift bag.

The bag included the Donut Kitty Reunion DVD, toys, and treats.

It also included a very special gift from me.

Here’s Boston in his…

And Sprinkle in his…Sprinkle in donut bow tie

I’m thinking these guys need a little practice in bow tie wearing.

It was a great party and lots of wonderful people did a lot of work.

A lot of love was in that room, both human and feline.

It was also a place to showcase special needs cats and bring awareness.

Bow-Tie napping on a purseSo, I found a purse and camped out until I got a donation!

Thank you to everyone who made the day so much fun.

Thank you to all the Donut Kitty parents.

You gave my siblings and me a life worth living!

Look… I’m wearing the bow tie you sent me.

You better get your matching bow tie on and wear it all week, especially Friday.

Bow Tie, Cat Depot spokescat

Are you puzzled as to why I’m telling you to wear your bow tie? (Little kitty pun there, and it’s intended.)

And in honor of National Bow Tie Day, Cat Depot is having a special event. It’s called Bow-Tie’s Overstock Adoption Special!

I had to put my kitty tie on for that big announcement!

From August 28 to September 2, specially selected cats will be available for a $20 adoption fee.

The cats will be identified with bow ties on their cards.

They will also be displayed on poster boards showing their name, photo, and story.

Bow Tie, Cat Depot spokescatI’ll be bugging people all week on Facebook to go to Cat Depot on Friday. (Another little kitty pun.)

I’ll tell them to go meet and hopefully adopt those specially selected cats.

You know what else?

I will be there in purrson!

Bow Tie, Cat Depot spokescat

From 4-7 on Friday, August 28th people can come to Cat Depot and meet me. I’m all ready for it and I have selected my ties from my extensive wardrobe.

All of this is in anticipation of the Giving Challenge which will be September 1-2.

I will be at Cat Depot on September 2nd too, but more on that later. This is enough excitement for one blog.

Bow Tie, Cat Depot spokescatSo, wear your bow tie this week! And tell your friends to come to Cat Depot on Friday, August 28th to help us celebrate.

People will be able to meet me from 4-7 PM.

I will be there looking dapper and excited!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – August 17, 2015

Hi Whitey,

This week I attended a very important meeting at Cat Depot. We had to make sure everything is in place for the Giving Challenge. It’s September 1-2, but it takes a lot to get it all ready.

As the spokescat for the event, I was honored to be invited to attend. I was even more excited about what happened when I got there.

Miss Mary was there waiting for me and said she had a treat for me.

Do you know what the crazy lady did?

She made me a Bow-Tie Buffet!

Bow-Tie's buffet!

When she opened and served all those cans my mouth was hanging open.

I was overwhelmed.

But I dove right in…..

Bow-Tie digs in at his Cat Depot buffet

…..then it was Miss Mary’s turn to have her mouth hanging open.

She was really getting a kick out of me devouring all those delicacies. I couldn’t eat it all so she packed me a nice kitty bag to take home. She’s my new best friend!

TMeeting with Bow-Tie at Cat Depothen it was time for the meeting to start. I got to sit on the table so I could see everything and visit everyone.

That’s miss Linda with the pretty blonde hair. She makes all my bow ties.

Notice my new money tie complete with a real silver dollar!

Bow Tie and Maria at Cat DepotThe brochure they created is beautiful, isn’t it?

That’s Miss Maria with me. She will be posting our blogs from now on.

Bow Tie and Beverly at Cat DepotIt’s not often a cat gets some purrsonal time with a co-found of Cat Depot. Miss Beverly was so very tender with me she put me to sleep.

It’s not wrong to take a little cat nap during a meeting, is it?

Bow-Tie napping at Cat Depot

Anyway, that was my first meeting and I really liked it. Everyone was so nice and we are all geared up for the Giving Challenge.

Here’s to $100,000 for Cat Depot in 24 hours!

The thing that will stick with me though was the Bow-Tie Buffet provided by Miss Mary. Every time I think of it…..

…..I have to wag my little nub!

See you next week.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – August 10, 2015

Hi Whitey,

Bow Tie's before-pictureSometimes I can’t believe that I have a seven year past of looking like this.

Pitiful for sure.

When Cat Depot scooped me up and brought me and my 49 house mates in, our lives changed.

Bow Tie after pic
My dapper dudeness is all around me now. But I’m more about helping other cats wherever I can.

Cat Depot has given me a platform to talk to the public and I take that position very seriously. This month in particular I’ll be very busy promoting the Giving Challenge and you’ll see lots on that.

But my day to day job is taking care of Helen Keller.

I believe in paying it forward. Cat Depot and humans have given to me. I give to her.

She sees me as her guardian angel, but she is the one who wears the wings.

Bow Tie and Helen Keller

I believe that someone with as many limitations as Helen Keller (blind, deaf and brain damage) is very brave. She doesn’t know she is different, she just lives her life.

When I think about my limitations due to my past, they seem like nothing when I look at her.

That’s why I believe in helping all of the special needs cats at Cat Depot. They just need love and someone to understand them.

Mighty Lou

This weekend was a big moment in my mission to help. Helen Keller and I have become quite popular on Facebook so we’re using it to help others.

We stepped into the mighty paws of Mighty Lou.

It took a while to find our own voice because his was so strong. Everyone loved him and always will.

Helen Keller and I will bravely and boldly carry on his mission.

This weekend the Facebook page has changed to Bow-Tie and Helen Keller but the mission stays the same.

I take my job seriously and my path is set before me. The job is a big one but I will help special needs cats find homes and their happiness.

Helen Keller and I are working to bring awareness to special needs cats.

I know you helped Mighty Lou and you will help us. Thank you! We can do it!

Gotta get back to caretaking now! See you next week.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – July 13, 2015

Hi Whitey and Friends,

If you’ve been watching Facebook, you’ve seen I have a lot of bow ties. That’s my trademark so a lot of effort goes into it. Did you know I have a purrsonal tailor?

Bow-Tie has a Purrsonal Tailor

She makes the bow ties and brings them to me for private fittings.

Bow-Tie Tries on a New Tie

Each bow tie has to look just right. She’s very particular that I have just the right bow tie for every occasion.

Bow-Tie sits patiently through his measurements

Each one is custom fit so there is a lot of measuring time but I’m patient.

This particular day she wanted help picking out new fabric so asked for my assistance and keen eye.

Bow-Tie is confused by all of the fabric

I was very confused by all of that fabric.

Bow-Tie Selects the Fabric for his new tie

The one I picked out had colorful cat heads on it. I held it down for her so no one else could get it.

Bow-Tie needs a cat nap after all that shopping

By the end of the shopping trip we had a whole pile of fabric for new bow ties. I was pretty over it at this point though and needed a cat nap.

Bow-Tie Gets the Bill from his Purrsonal Trainer

But, oh no, here comes the bill. Well that’s the price of being well dressed.

Next time I think I’ll let the humans do all of the shopping and I’ll just wear the bow ties.

Bow-Tie Winks

You know what I mean about the human, right? (wink, wink)

See you next week.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – June 29, 2015

Dear Friends,

It was a big week for this little guy……I went national!

There is a radio show all about animals and they invited me to be on it. It was kind of scary but I said yes because I have an important message to deliver.

Bow Tie has his lady bug for courage

My lady bug helped give me courage. She’s always smiling so she makes me happy. I wore my lady bug tie to match her. But, I was so nervous about the show I got the tie on wrong. All of my lady bugs were flying upside down. Uh oh. Better check in the mirror next time.

Bow Tie Joins his Mom in the Radio Sound Booth

My mom took me into the sound booth. At first it seemed so big and so scary. But then I remembered I was there to deliver a message for all cats. I had to go on there and tell everyone hoarding is very, very bad and not to do it.

So on behalf of all cats who have had a terrible experience like me, as soon as they said “who wants to talk?”

Bow Tie Raises his paw to speak

I raised my hand and shouted out “I’ll go first!” (Of course I was speaking cat, so no humans understood.) I got really brave when I remembered it is my job to speak for those who can’t speak.

Bow Tie Speaks into the microphone

I got right up there to that microphone and said “Do not have more cats than you can care for.” We suffer so much when people have so many cats they can’t provide proper care. You better know I told them everything that happens to us in that environment.

Bow Tie speaks on the radio

This was my opportunity to speak and I took it. My message was heard! People started asking questions and showing concern. So many of them just didn’t know and don’t understand. But I’m here now, I’ve found my voice, I’ve found my forum and I will work hard. Bow-Tie to the rescue!

It was tiring though. The stress of it all wore me out. My message was out there and my work was complete.

Bow Tie is all tuckered out

It was nice to curl up with my lady bug and know I did my job. People know a little more now about hoarding and about how to care for us. Sleep came easy to this young radio star.

See you next week.

Love,
Bow-Tie, The Dapper Gent

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – June 8, 2015

Dear Whitey and Friends,

Let me just start you out with a test…..

Bow-Tie's Choppers

See those choppers?

And see those other choppers?

What’s the difference???

Bow-Tie doesn't have any teeth

The difference, my friend, is one has teeth and one doesn’t.

One guess which is which.

Bow-Tie's Selfie

I took a selfie to prove my point…………

Took this one hour after I woke up from a three hour induced sleep.

Note the glassy eyes and druggy stare.

They pulled all of my teeth out with the exception of six on the top. What I’m going to do with those, I don’t know. I guess I can gnash some corn on the cob.

When I got home, I was happy but a little unable to control my actions.

Bow-Tie and his favorite toy

I ran over to my favorite toy. But once I got it in my mouth I forgot where I was again. I sat there for a long, long time seemingly engaged in a drug induced fixation.

That passed then the next couple of days were filled with soft food and more drugs.

Bow-Tie says No to Drugs

By day three I “Just Said NO”…….
No more meds for me!

Tomorrow I’ll go back to the doctor and get my medical release. I have had to lay low here a while until I was declared medically sound to hit the road. I’m excited and I’m thankful you have my back, Whitey.

So, here I go……….
Bow-Tie is on the Path

I’m on the path.

I see the light before me.

I’m ready to fill the might paws set before me.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – June 1, 2015

Dear Whitey,

I got your note about a special bond between us. The idea of a special bow tie to bond us is exciting. As you know, my bow ties are very special to me….
Bow-Tie loves modeling his ties

….and I like modeling my ties.

Facebook has been working for me and lots of fans are already my close friends. Two of them said they will be sending me something (ties, I’m sure).

My A#1 Fan already sent me a very special dinner tie.

As soon as I start going into public, you’ll see that one when I go out for lunch.

Bow-Tie likes his new green tie

A nice lady named Linda just started volunteering at Cat Depot. She wrote me wanting to make me a whole wardrobe of bow ties. This is the first one she sent me to make make sure it fits. It fits just great and I’m so happy to have it.

Why haven’t I been out in the public much yet? My mission to help special needs cats is all planned. The reason I’ve been a little inactive publicly is because I’m still on the mend health-wise.

They should not call it a hoarding house, they should call it a horror house. The toll it takes on us cats is bad. But I’m almost completely healthy, sturdy, willing and certainly handsome enough to start working. My ears will probably always need medicine (that’s ok). I may always sneeze and need saline up my nose (icky, but that’s ok).

My ear and tail? Well, haven’t found them yet (kitty snicker).

The last important issue at hand? Look at this…..

Bow-Tie shows his missing teeth

Notice anything? See that other big tooth that isn’t there? Just one of several that have left me. My teeth are rotted almost all the way down to the roots.

Sooooo…….tomorrow I am having dental surgery. Prognosis is that they may all come out. But…..I can still gum caviar, lobster and other tasty morsels. I may even get better care and fancier food if I act unable to eat regular stuff! (another kitty snicker)

Bow-Tie is anxiously awaiting his new bowtie from Whitey Wobbles

Thanks for thinking of me and encouraging me on my very special mission. I will be waiting by the mailbox to see what you’re sending me. Get your mom to go to the post office first thing in the morning, you’re too short to reach the counter. (last kitty snicker)

Your friend,
Bow-Tie
