Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – June 27, 2015

Dear Whitey and Friends,

It’s been a rainy week so my adventures have been inside. In fact it was Helen Keller who had the outside adventure this week. She brought the excitement home to me.

Bow-Tie is happy about his bag of toys

There were toys involved so I was all happy.

Helen Keller gets a kiss from a friend

She got to go to Cat Depot. A special friend spent some smoochy time with her in the gift shop. She’s such a girly girl.

Sometimes Helen Keller gets a little scared in different places because she doesn’t know where she is. It looks like this was a nice quiet moment for the two of them.

Marianne and Helen Keller

Next stop was to visit someone we both know. Miss Marianne came to say hi to her. I know your mom works with Miss Marianne now doing the adoptions at Cat Depot. She’s such a nice lady. She brought a gift to Helen Keller and she sent one home for me.

Bow-Tie helps Helen Keller find her toys

I had to help her open the package and find the toys. She does everything I do but I have to be right next to her so she can feel me.

Can I tell you something confidentially?

Bow-Tie took Helen Keller's foil ball

I took advantage of the fact she can’t see. She got this foil ball in her bag and its my favorite toy. I took it and put it in my bag.

Bow-Tie is ashamed that he stole Helen Keller's foil ball

I know it was the wrong thing to do and I do feel ashamed. But it was a foil ball – I couldn’t help myself.

Bow-Tie was born to take care of Helen Keller

She got to have everything else and she’s happy. I take really good care of her.

Since she’s come to us, I have a real purpose to my life. The struggle I went through for all those years is now worth it. It taught me that no matter what hardships we have, there is always someone who is needs more.

My someone is Helen Keller.

A friend gave me a quote by Mark Twain.  It says:

“The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.”

I was born to take care of my Helen Keller.

Humans can use that quote, too, and they can find their purpose may be to dedicate themselves to helping animals.

Wouldn’t that be great?

See you next week.

Hi there, Bowtie!

I understand about the foil ball incident…I won’t tell a soul that you took it out of Helen Keller’s bag!

White Loves Foil Balls

I have a huge foil ball that I hide from Daisy Doodle and Harley. It is very special to me.

You are doing a fantastic job taking care of Helen Keller. I think you are falling for her…I see that look in your eyes. Be careful dude, you haven’t known her that long.

My Mom says she loves working with Miss Marianne, Miss Nancy and Miss Sue. They do a great job getting kittens and cats adopted every day. Did you know they have 34 new residents that came in last week? I’m getting my friends and my Mom’s friends to donate food for them.

Whitey Wobbles on the lanai

This rainy weather has me down. I like to play on the screened lanai, but it’s too wet out there. My Mom saved the day when she put my scratcher bed on the lanai for me to sit in.  She even served me dinner there!

Keep up the good work, Bowtie.  I know Mighty Lou is watching us and sending us good vibes!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – July 13, 2015

Hi Whitey and Friends,

If you’ve been watching Facebook, you’ve seen I have a lot of bow ties. That’s my trademark so a lot of effort goes into it. Did you know I have a purrsonal tailor?

Bow-Tie has a Purrsonal Tailor

She makes the bow ties and brings them to me for private fittings.

Bow-Tie Tries on a New Tie

Each bow tie has to look just right. She’s very particular that I have just the right bow tie for every occasion.

Bow-Tie sits patiently through his measurements

Each one is custom fit so there is a lot of measuring time but I’m patient.

This particular day she wanted help picking out new fabric so asked for my assistance and keen eye.

Bow-Tie is confused by all of the fabric

I was very confused by all of that fabric.

Bow-Tie Selects the Fabric for his new tie

The one I picked out had colorful cat heads on it. I held it down for her so no one else could get it.

Bow-Tie needs a cat nap after all that shopping

By the end of the shopping trip we had a whole pile of fabric for new bow ties. I was pretty over it at this point though and needed a cat nap.

Bow-Tie Gets the Bill from his Purrsonal Trainer

But, oh no, here comes the bill. Well that’s the price of being well dressed.

Next time I think I’ll let the humans do all of the shopping and I’ll just wear the bow ties.

Bow-Tie Winks

You know what I mean about the human, right? (wink, wink)

See you next week.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – July 6, 2015

Dear Whitey and Friends,

As you know, my life has not been easy. My past is bad but my life now is good. Thinking back on that life makes me sad. But you know what makes me happy?

Being adopted and being loved.

Know what else makes me happy?

Loving and helping someone less fortunate.

You’ll never guess what I got! Don’t even try.

Here it is…………

Meet Bow-Tie's New Friend, Helen Keller

This is Helen Keller. She is deaf, blind and has some neurological damage. I love her! She really needs some special care and I am here for her.

Bow-Tie is Bowled Over by Helen Keller

This is the first moment I laid my eyes on her. She bowled me over!

Bow-Tie Hugs Helen Keller

I was just so full of love for her I had to hug her. Then I got to work cleaning her really good.

Since she’s blind, I wanted to help show her around so she would know her way. She tried to do it on her own and she did find the toys but………..

Helen Keller get stuck in bowl

….somehow she got stuck in the toy bowl and just sat there waiting for help.

Bow-Tie brings toys to Helen Keller

After that I learned it’s just easier to bring the toys to her. (Excuse the photo-bombing in the chair back there).

Helen Keller Uses Bow-Tie as a Pillow

She decided from the first day that I am a good pillow. Sometimes I get a stiff neck from holding her head up but I stay as long as she needs me. That’s love.

Helen Keller Sniffs the great outdoors

She can’t see and she can’t hear but she still likes to experience different things. We went out for a walk and she enjoyed the fresh air. Her nose was going a mile a minute as she took it all in.

Bow-Tie takes good care of Helen Keller

She can find her way around pretty good, but most of the time she depends on me. And I take really good care of her.

You’re my friend so I’ll let you in on a little secret. You know I have a bad ear, right? One sticks up and one lays down. So guess what I do?

Bow-Tie folds Helen Keller's ear

Sometimes when Helen Keller is sleeping, I hold her right ear down with my paw. See how I’m doing that now?

If I do it every time she’s sleeping, maybe her ear will lay down like mine and we’ll be the same. She won’t be able to see it so she will never know (he-he…kitty snicker).

The moral of my story here, Whitey, is that as soon as we start feeling sorry for ourselves, we can find someone who needs more than we do. We need to be thankful for what we have and then reach out and help them.

It just feels good……

Bow-Tie and Helen Keller are inseparable

…and makes everything alright.

See ya next week!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – June 29, 2015

Dear Friends,

It was a big week for this little guy……I went national!

There is a radio show all about animals and they invited me to be on it. It was kind of scary but I said yes because I have an important message to deliver.

Bow Tie has his lady bug for courage

My lady bug helped give me courage. She’s always smiling so she makes me happy. I wore my lady bug tie to match her. But, I was so nervous about the show I got the tie on wrong. All of my lady bugs were flying upside down. Uh oh. Better check in the mirror next time.

Bow Tie Joins his Mom in the Radio Sound Booth

My mom took me into the sound booth. At first it seemed so big and so scary. But then I remembered I was there to deliver a message for all cats. I had to go on there and tell everyone hoarding is very, very bad and not to do it.

So on behalf of all cats who have had a terrible experience like me, as soon as they said “who wants to talk?”

Bow Tie Raises his paw to speak

I raised my hand and shouted out “I’ll go first!” (Of course I was speaking cat, so no humans understood.) I got really brave when I remembered it is my job to speak for those who can’t speak.

Bow Tie Speaks into the microphone

I got right up there to that microphone and said “Do not have more cats than you can care for.” We suffer so much when people have so many cats they can’t provide proper care. You better know I told them everything that happens to us in that environment.

Bow Tie speaks on the radio

This was my opportunity to speak and I took it. My message was heard! People started asking questions and showing concern. So many of them just didn’t know and don’t understand. But I’m here now, I’ve found my voice, I’ve found my forum and I will work hard. Bow-Tie to the rescue!

It was tiring though. The stress of it all wore me out. My message was out there and my work was complete.

Bow Tie is all tuckered out

It was nice to curl up with my lady bug and know I did my job. People know a little more now about hoarding and about how to care for us. Sleep came easy to this young radio star.

See you next week.

Love,

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – June 15, 2015

Dear Friends,

Hope your week was a good one. I’ve been out on the road talking it up about special Bow-Tie at Cleanersneeds cats. My first order of business was getting my wardrobe in tip top shape. I took my laundry over to my favorite cleaners for some much needed attention.

They say no cat has ever brought bow ties, or anything else for that matter, in to be cleaned. What are they doing then? I am a dapper gent and want to look spiffy at all times. Am I wrong?

Bow-Tie Inspects the laundry

I even asked for a boost up to inspect them closer. After the sniff test to make sure they were fresh, I gave my paw of approval.

Bow-Tie Approves of his clean bow ties

The finished product was bagged, tagged and delivered. Wonderful service and wonderful handling of those precious bow ties.

Bow-Tie wants to help pets in need

When it was time to pay I noticed something on the counter.
My cleaners supports local pets in need, especially cats! They particularly help bad situations like I was in. I had to help them help the others. So I gave them what I had………

Bow-Tie donates his precious crinkle ball to help cats in need

…I gave them one of my precious crinkle balls. It hurt me a little to give something up but then it felt so good knowing I was helping.

Humans have money they can give to help. I don’t really understand money being more valuable than a crinkle ball, but I hear it is.

We need to continue to tell them to give those pennies, nickles and dollars to help cats. (Donate to Friends Like Me) Look where I came from and where I am. Every penny counts. Am I right?

So that was my adventure earlier this week. Then I donned a clean bow tie and hit the streets but more on that next week. For right now…………….

Bow-Tie Loves his new Cleaners

……a big toothless smile for my purrsonal cleaner!

Bye Bye for this week,

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – June 8, 2015

Dear Whitey and Friends,

Let me just start you out with a test…..

Bow-Tie's Choppers

See those choppers?

And see those other choppers?

What’s the difference???

Bow-Tie doesn't have any teeth

The difference, my friend, is one has teeth and one doesn’t.

One guess which is which.

Bow-Tie's Selfie

I took a selfie to prove my point…………

Took this one hour after I woke up from a three hour induced sleep.

Note the glassy eyes and druggy stare.

They pulled all of my teeth out with the exception of six on the top. What I’m going to do with those, I don’t know. I guess I can gnash some corn on the cob.

When I got home, I was happy but a little unable to control my actions.

Bow-Tie and his favorite toy

I ran over to my favorite toy. But once I got it in my mouth I forgot where I was again. I sat there for a long, long time seemingly engaged in a drug induced fixation.

That passed then the next couple of days were filled with soft food and more drugs.

Bow-Tie says No to Drugs

By day three I “Just Said NO”…….
No more meds for me!

Tomorrow I’ll go back to the doctor and get my medical release. I have had to lay low here a while until I was declared medically sound to hit the road. I’m excited and I’m thankful you have my back, Whitey.

So, here I go……….
Bow-Tie is on the Path

I’m on the path.

I see the light before me.

I’m ready to fill the might paws set before me.

Signed a healthy, happy and ready,

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – May 26, 2015

Dear Whitey and Friends,

Bow-Tie is Patriotic for Memorial Day

End of another week (or start of a new one). It’s Memorial Day Weekend so I have gone red, white and blue. Pretty dapper, don’t you think?

My head has always been a bit too big for my body. I was just made that way, but I’m cute, right? And then I’ve got that ear thing………..oh well.

I’ve been having a lot of new adventures since I have a happy home now. For one, I eat regularly and I eat cat food. Do you know that I used to just eat junk off the floor including bugs? Yuck.

I’m also getting really healthy. You know how I know that? I’ve been going to the vet. Never knew a vet before either. Imagine that. However….I’m not necessarily a fan of the vet.

Bow-Tie enjoys rides in the car

Car rides are fun so I’m always ready to go. This particular car ride was less fun than usual.

Bow-Tie gets his weigh-in

It ended with me being put on a scale in the vet’s office. It showed I’m still a bit underweight but I’m working on that.

Bow-Tie Waits at the Vet

Then I got put in a room alone to wait. Wait? For what or for who?

Bow-Tie gets his blood pressure taken

Uh oh. This is not a good look on The Dapper Gent. The numbers were ticking away. Don’t they know our blood pressure goes up by just putting that thing on us? Turns out my blood pressure is purrfect!

Bow-Tie and the Thermometer

This looks like a loving embrace, right? I do not even want to tell you what someone else was sticking into my other end at this very moment. But, the result was that my temperature was normal so I guess it had to be done.

Bow-Tie gets checked out by the vet

My purrsonal physician came in to check my heart. When I was at Cat Depot I had what they call a heart murmur. That’s not good. But she kept listening and listening. The heart murmur is gone! She said I was anemic before and that may have caused it. All of the things that were wrong with me before are getting better now.

Oh Whitey, we need to work really hard to help all cats get homes and good care. I know that has always been your mission. Now that I’m working with you, we can both work really hard. Part of my mission will also be to rescue cats from hoarding homes.
Bow-Tie gets a nail trim

Whitey, when they come at you with those clippers, just relax. If you fight, it takes longer. I just let them do it and it was over before I knew it.

Bow-Tie like the vet techs

The ladies were all really nice to me. I have never had this much care before. We want to make sure I’m healthy and strong before I go out onto the streets and get to work. The mighty paws left before me need to keep walking. I’m almost fully healed and able to take on the task.

In the meantime, I’m working on Facebook and have a lot of friends and fans. The legacy of Friends Like Me will go on and be stronger than ever.

I know you’ll help me. We can get all of our cat friends into loving homes.

For now though I need to get over the big adventure at the vet…..
Bow-Tie says going to the vet ain't for sissies!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin 5/18/15

Hi Whitey and Friends,

I’m still new at this but I’m excited about my weekly blog. This week I’ll tell the story of my final days at Cat Depot. What a great place, huh? We all like it there but it doesn’t compare to a real, furever home.

Bow-Tie Fills Out His Adoption Paperwork

My last day there was a happy one. Wonderful Miss Marianne filled out the paperwork for my adoption. She had a smiley face, didn’t she? I know I always look a little grumpy but that’s because of my folded ear. It makes me look a little crabby, but I’m not.

Bow-Tie is grateful to Dr. Jill Kirk

Dr. Kirk was really good to me and helped heal most of my wounds. I’ll tell you, that hoarding environment is brutal on us. In the weeks to come I’ll talk more about it but for now I try not to think about it. Anyway, Dr. Kirk came to give me a final tummy rub. I’m a sucker for a good tummy rub.

Even in my very first days there, I would roll over and welcome a rub. Everyone thought it was so cute. Me?  I just wanted the attention and the loving.

Bow-Tie and his favorite Cat Depot Volunteer, John

One of my favorite volunteers honored me in a big way. His name is John and he likes to paint. Look at that painting he did of me! It’s fantastic. John came to say his final good-bye, too. Did I mention I also like chin rubs?

Bow-Tie meets with Terri Gagliardi to discuss his blog

Miss Terri wanted to meet with me before I left. She does the blog so she wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing. She approved me taking it over so I have to do a good job. She is really nice so I gave her a nice head butt.

By then it was time to go and I was anxious to start my new life.

Bow-Tie says goodbye to Buddy

Buddy is still waiting for his furever home so I said good-bye and good luck to him.

Did you know I was missing my tail? You can see it here. Yep, I’m missing a tail, an ear and lots of teeth. Oh well, I have a big heart to make up for the missing pieces. (kitty laugh)

Bow-Tie said farewell to his friends at Cat Depot and headed home with his mom

So there you have my final day at Cat Depot. May all the cats there be as lucky as I am to find a furever home. And may they all drive away into the sunshine and live happy lives. Like me!

Thanks for being my new friends!

Love,
Bow-Tie

From the Files of Mighty Lou – 4/27/15

Hi Whitey and Friends,

Writing that got me to thinking about friends. Friends are what it’s about, right? If you have friends you have a happy life. I was lucky enough to have a lot of friends and that made me happy. Everyone is different and we can’t judge our friends for their difference.  For instance…..

Mighty Lou has lots of friends

We can’t judge our friends if they look a little kooky. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Little Girl has a grip on Mighty Lou

Sometimes our friends hold us a little too tight. But they love us so we let them hang on……..all in the name of love.

Mighty Lou and dressed-up doggie

We should always tell our friends they look pretty……..even if they are a little over the top. That just makes them unique.

Mighty Lou and monkey friend

And when our friends are less attractive than others, we need to love them even more. When others look away or treat them bad, we need to love them even more. They are just like us on the inside.

Mighty Lou and Lily

And, when we find that extra special someone, we need to be the kindest of all. We need to make sure they get our best. Even when our best means we can’t touch their food even if they don’t eat it as fast as us. Know what I mean?

Whitey Wobbles is Mighty Lou's Best Friend

Whitey, you are my best friend, my caped buddy. Carry on my mission to help cats especially those with special needs.

Mighty Lou's Kitten friends

Tell all the humans that cats make the best friends. Tell them there are always too many cats waiting for too few homes. (The similarity in looks to mine is purely coincidental)

Tell them to go to Cat Depot and pick out a best friend. Thank you, my friend.

Love,
Mighty Lou, Caped Crusader

From the Files of Mighty Lou – April 20, 2015

Hi Whitey and Friends,

Were your humans going crazy this past week? Tax Day happened and humans scrambled. Each year it happens at the same time, you’d think they would be more prepared.

Prepared is what I was thinking about. Do me a favor, Caped Buddy….will you please pass on a way for them to be more prepared?

Tell them Mighty Lou says:
Mighty Lou says keep accurate records

1. As you go through the year, keep good records and be accurate.

Mighty Lou's commitment advice

2. Commit your money to things that matter. It’s easy to waste money.

Mighty Lou says to challenge yourself

3. Challenge yourself to help others more than you did last year.  It feels good.

Tell them to remember our kitty friends at Cat Depot. Giving to help them really does save lives. Donate to Friends Like Me.

Mighty Lou says every penny counts

4. Every penny counts and the kitties benefit.

Think what would happen if humans just saved all of their change for a year. That would mean a lot of kitty food and medical supplies for our friends!

Will you tell them for me?

Tell them, my friend.

Mighty Lou will be watching

I’ll be watching.

Love,

Mighty Lou, Caped Crusader

Dear Angel Mighty Lou,

Hope you are ok with the “angel” part. I know there is reason you were taken from me and everyone else here on earth. I figured it out…it’s so you can watch over all the cats and not just the ones at Cat Depot. Am I  right?

You have an even bigger job now. Wish I could see the cape you are wearing. I bet it is awesome…well, everything is awesome on Mighty Lou. And I know you don’t have to wear glasses, cause you can see and hear perfectly in heaven.

So, of course, I will tell everyone to save their money and help kitties at Cat Depot…especially the special needs kitties.

I’m sure you know about the big celebration of your life on May 3rd at Cat Depot. I know everyone who is anybody will be there. I see lots of  good things coming from that event.

I’m helping my Mom bake lots of cookies for your party. I think we need to make some cat treats…I’m gonna go talk to her about that!

Go do your “angel” stuff good buddy. I feel better now that I figured out why you had to cross the rainbow bridge and leave me here.

Till next week,
Your caped friend, Whitey Wobbles
