Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – November 13, 2017

Bow-Tie and BroshiDear Friends,

Happy Veterans’ Day Weekend!

This weekend we honor the men and women who keep our country safe.

This weekend we honor the men and women who gave their lives to ensure our freedom.

Broshi formalLittle Broshi wanted to help me with this message.

She’s very patriotic.

Broshi reaches for Bow-Tie's heartI’m always serious in our photo shoots, but Broshi is playful.

I’m being serious and she is trying to touch my heart.

Broshi touching Bow-Tie's heartShe’s done it.

She has touched my heart – in oh so many ways.

Broshi stole Bow-Tie's heartShe didn’t just touch my heart; she stole my heart. Literally.

I’m happy she stole my heart.

I give it to her willingly.

No one can steal our freedom, though.

This weekend we honor our Veterans.

Bow-Tie and BroshiThank you for our freedom.

Love you all!

Bow-Tie is a donut kittyDear Friends,

Remember when 62 members of my family and I were rescued by Cat Depot?

Remember when Cat Depot selected 13 of us and called us the Baker’s Dozen?

Remember when they nicknamed us the Donut Kitties?

That was cute, right?

I have always enjoyed being called a Donut Kitty.

My original name was even Glaze.

Bow-Tie donut with donutsHowever…

I never thought I would actually BE a donut.

I have a reputation for being sweet, but this may be going too far.

Bow-Tie is a donut

Hat and all, I am officially a Donut Kitty!

Bow-Tie donut standing upThe outfit suits me and I’m very comfortable in my official role…

…as a Donut Kitty.

Bow-Tie dressed as a donutI am happy to strut my sweetness all over town…

…or at least to costume contests and parties.

Bow-Tie is a sleepy donutBeing a Donut Kitty is tiring, though.

And a good Donut Kitty deserves a good donut nap.

Bow-Tie wishes a Happy HalloweenHave a safe and Happy Halloween!

Happy Columbus Day Weekend, and Indigenous People Day!

I’m wearing my boat bow tie to celebrate.

Bow-Tie looks at the camera

Serious face, serious question:

Where did Columbus first land in America?

Answer:

On his feet!

Ha ha ha!

Bow-Tie with the flag

Now I am being serious.

I’m proud to be an American cat.

Who was the first cat to discover America?

Christopher Columpuss!

Ha ha ha!

Sorry.

Now I’m being serious again.

We all need to be proud of America.

We have freedom and a country we can love.

Let’s take care of our country and of each other.

The cats are cute

Bow-Tie is smilingHappy Labor Day, Friends!

Big smile!

It’s a holiday weekend!

Labor Day makes me feel all red, white, and blue.

Bow-Tie has red, white, and blue toysI’m so pawtriotic I’m only playing with red, white, and blue toys this long weekend.

My favorite colors are red, white, and blue.

My favorite things are TOYS!

Bow-Tie playingPurrsonality-wise I’m a laid-back guy, but when I see toys…

…I spring into action.

Bow-Tie playingChasing and catching, that’s the name of the game.

Hey! What’s this I caught?

Bow-Tie playingYikes!

It’s a mouse!

Bow-Tie holding a toy in his mouthOne of the things I like best about toys is carrying them around in my mouth.

It used to be a lot easier to pick them up when I still had teeth.

Bow-Tie leaving with a toyIt’s a little tougher now, holding on with only gums…

…but the job gets done.

Bow-Tie leaving with a toyNow…

…with toy in mouth I’m off.

Bow-Tie retrieving a toyIf you know anything at all about me, you know I love to retrieve.

I will bring a toy back to you as many times as you want to throw it.

Playing. That’s what makes his a good holiday for me.

Have a Happy Labor Day!

Bow-Tie brought his flag outHappy 4th of July, Everyone!

It’s Independence Day weekend.

Hope you all have your flags out.

Mine is displayed proudly.

Bow-Tie thinks about barbecueThis is a holiday for fireworks, parades, and barbecues.

The barbecue part is my favorite.

Barbecued tuna… try it, you’ll like it.

Bow-Tie hiding from the firewoksYou know what’s not my favorite part?

Fireworks.

Fireworks make me scream!

Pets don’t like loud noises and fireworks are certainly loud.

Please make sure you protect your pets and make them feel safe.

Bow-Tie and Annie Sullivan

Pet them, play with them, and put a loving arm around them.

If you are calm, they will be calm.

Annie Sullivan proud in Bow-Tie's bow tieHi Everybody!

It’s me, Annie Sullivan.

Bow-Tie is a little under the weather and I’m in charge over here.

I stole this bow tie from him, so I can write the blog real good, just like he does.

It’s Memorial Day weekend and he wanted to be sure he got his message out.

Bow-Tie is our leader and when he’s not feeling well we get a little worried.

He has a lot of yucky things that flare up from time to time, because of where he came from.

He’s getting better each day, and I’m taking care of things until he’s back.

Annie Sullivan grooms Bow-TieI’ve been taking really good care of him.

He has been sleeping a lot and hasn’t been keen on grooming, so I do it for him.

Annie Sullivan takes care of Bow-TieI keep him company all the time, so he doesn’t feel alone.

His eyes are sensitive to light right now, so he doesn’t open them very much.

I can relate to eye issues, but his will get better soon.

Annie Sullivan brings out her big girl feetBow-Tie does a lot to keep us all in line and to educate the public.

When he got sick I was happy to take over for him, but it’s a big job.

I have big paws to fill, so I put my big girl feet on. Hahaha!

Annie Sullivan and Bow-TieBow-Tie isn’t talking much these days, but he did say one thing to me as I was writing this.

He said, “Take that bow tie off.”

Uh oh.

He sure perked up when I messed with his bow ties!

I guess I’m not in charge of everything.

Bow-TieHappy Memorial Day, everyone.

Let’s all remember to remember

Love,

Bow-Tie, The Dapper Gent, and Annie Sullivan, too

Bow-Tie and Annie Sullivan playingHappy Easter, everyone!

This is Annie Sullivan’s first Easter.

To make it special for her, we got her some Easter decorations.

At first she wasn’t quite sure of the texture the pretty grass offered.

She pushed it around and seemed very interested in this new feeling.

Annie Sullivan plays with the grassShe experiences things with her mouth to see what they are.

I told her this grass isn’t edible, and not to chew it.

Bow-Tie tells Annie Sullivan not to eat the grassShe didn’t listen.

When they don’t listen, youngsters sometimes have to find things out the hard way.

She learned Easter grass is not for eating.

Bow-Tie and Annie Sullivan playingShe was still very interested in the texture of the grass.

She started flinging it around pretty good.

Annie Sullivan dresses Bow Tie in Easter grassI think I actually heard her laughing as she tossed it on me.

Bow-Tie and Annie Sullivan playingShe tried to pat me and say she was sorry.

She’s young.

It’s Easter.

I was very willing to forgive her.

Bow-Tie and Annie SullivanBut then…

…then…

…I saw the silly look on her face, like she was all proud of herself…

…and she would do it again.

But I forgave her.

She’s young.

I love her.

And it’s Easter.

Bow-Tie and Annie Sullivan taking a cat napThen we had a nice little Easter catnap.

Happy Easter, everyone!

Don’t eat the grass.

Bow-Tie wishes everyone a Merry ChristmasMeowy Christmas, Everyone!

It’s Christmas morning as I write this.

It makes me think about what’s been going on, and what’s really important.

Bow-Tie under the wrapping paper. It's a cat thing. There was all the wrapping to do.

People get all stressed out about it and make it a big deal.

To a cat, it’s simple…

…jump into the pile, then take a nap.

Bow-Tie and Courage shoppingThere was all the shopping to do.

People get stressed about about that too.

To a cat, that’s simple too…

…get what’s important and get on with it.

Everyone togetherThen there’s the gifts.

Cats like gifts too.

I love this toy!But cats’ needs are simple…

…just one little something makes us very happy.

Nap with someone you love - Bow-Tie and Courage sleepingWhen it’s all said and done,

one thing is the most important.

Spending time with someone you love…

Adopting a cat will give everyone someone to love.

But then one question remains on Christmas morning…

Bow-Tie wonders who will clean up the mess.

Yikes! Who’s gonna clean up this mess?

Merry Christmas.

Love,
Bow-Tie

Bow-Tie got a cardDear Friends,

Look what I got!

I got a Thanksgiving Day card in the mail.

It’s from my friend Mike and the Kitties.

He’s generous with Cat Depot, and is especially generous with the Friends Like Me Fund.

Thank you, Mike and the Kitties!

(Yes, you do see someone trying to sneak into the picture.)

Bow-Tie feels specialI feel pretty special that someone remembers me so often, and helps my special needs friends.

I feel pretty special indeed!

Bow-Tie and Annie SullivanThe card makes me think about things I’m thankful for, and I have a lot of things.

I was saved from a very, very bad situation, and now I have a wonderful home.

And as I look around I see my special friends who love me, and I love them back.

We all need friends.

We need each other.

So, my short and sweet message this week is to be thankful.

Be thankful for what you have and find good in everything.

Bow-Tie sees the bright side of lifeThere is good in everything.

Sometimes we have to look a little harder than other times, but we can find good if we look.

Bow-Tie and Annie Sullivan say Happy ThanksgivingHappy Thanksgiving, my dear friends.

Don’t eat too much turkey!

Bow-Tie in hat and bandanaHowdy Pardners!

Excuse my unsightly costume.

It’s way beneath me, but I wore it to make a point.

We need to talk about this Halloween thing again.

Halloween can be dangerous for your cats.

You will likely be opening and shutting the door all night.

It’s very easy for your beloved cat to slip out the door.

Bow-Tie demonstrating outdoors

Once outside, they will become confused.

They really didn’t mean to run out.

They were afraid of all the commotion and just got lost in the shuffle.

If you don’t see them right away it only gets worse.

Bow-Tie in the jungleThey can become very afraid and try to hide.

They may not even come if you call them, once you realize they’re gone.

Bow-Tie outdoorsThey won’t like it out there, and they won’t know what to do.

I’m not trying to make you feel bad.

I just want to remind you to keep your kitties safe on Halloween night.

Bow-Tie snuggled up in bedYou know where they want to be.

Snuggled safely in the house.

Please keep an extra eye on them, or lock them safely in a room away from the door.

Bow-Tie looking extra cuteConsider this a reminder…

…from someone who knows how kitties think!

Enjoy Halloween and be safe.

Love you all!
