Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – May 22, 2017

Bow-Tie has new furnitureDear Friends,

We got a new cat playhouse over here this week.

It has a place for one of us to hide, and one of us to stand guard.

Bow-Tie approves of the colorI love the colorful paint job.

Blue is my favorite color.

Bow-Tie rubs his head on the tableIt provides a nice surface for rubbing my head.

Not too hard, not too soft.

Courage likes playing inside the new houseCourage enjoys playing inside.

She thinks it’s her house.

Nice frame for BlueberryBlueberry likes to pose between the legs.

She says they frame her beauty perfectly.

Synchronized jumpingI’m teaching Annie Sullivan something…

…how to jump at the same time as me, when I say “1, 2, 3.”

Bow-Tie closed the door to the girlsSometimes I get tired of these girls wanting all my attention…

…so I shut them in and lock the door on them!

The humans say this is not a cat playhouse, it’s a dining room table.

Breakfast time on the new table

I disagree.

Bow-Tie found a good spot for a napTo me it’s just a real nice place to take a little nap.

Have a colorful week!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – March 6, 2017

Bow-Tie handsome in black tieHi Everyone,

I’m a very tolerant guy.

I’m the only boy amid all these girls.

They bug me on occasion, but I love them.

However, sometimes I just have to back away and let them have their day.

Yesterday was one of those days.

Here’s Courage.

Courage is ready with pearls and purse

She was all excited, because she was invited to a purse fashion show luncheon.

She got her pearls and purse ready to go.

Courage arrives, in a purseAnd since it was a purse event…

…she arrived being carried in a purse.

Everyone thought that was really cute.

Courage seated by the tableShe got a seat at the table (in her purse, of course.)

Courage in a purse, at the tableVery quickly, her nose started working.

She can’t see, but there was something on the table that smelled good.

Courage licks butterAh, there it was.

And she went in for a taste.

Butter.

Courage likes butterMmmm!

Courage eats a rollShe was offered a roll and butter.

But who needs the roll when you have butter?

Courage on top of purseShe was a very good girl all day.

She just sat in her purse for the whole lunch and fashion show.

Courage and her collarAt the end of the day she took her sparkly collar off.

It was time to go home.

Courage had a good dayWhen it was over, it had been a very good day.

A very good, girlie type of day.

See you next week.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – December 26, 2016

Bow-Tie wishes everyone a Merry ChristmasMeowy Christmas, Everyone!

It’s Christmas morning as I write this.

It makes me think about what’s been going on, and what’s really important.

Bow-Tie under the wrapping paper. It's a cat thing. There was all the wrapping to do.

People get all stressed out about it and make it a big deal.

To a cat, it’s simple…

…jump into the pile, then take a nap.

Bow-Tie and Courage shoppingThere was all the shopping to do.

People get stressed about about that too.

To a cat, that’s simple too…

…get what’s important and get on with it.

Everyone togetherThen there’s the gifts.

Cats like gifts too.

I love this toy!But cats’ needs are simple…

…just one little something makes us very happy.

Nap with someone you love - Bow-Tie and Courage sleepingWhen it’s all said and done,

one thing is the most important.

Spending time with someone you love…

Adopting a cat will give everyone someone to love.

But then one question remains on Christmas morning…

Bow-Tie wonders who will clean up the mess.

Yikes! Who’s gonna clean up this mess?

Merry Christmas.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – December 12, 2016

Bow-Tie's vet check up started wellDear Everyone,

I’m going to tell you something pretty purrsonal.

There was a little incident and some news this week.

Generally I like to spread good news.

This however is not so good.

I had my 6-month check-up at the vet this week.

Bow-Tie and Courage waiting at the vet's officeIt all started out pretty good.

I like my vet and I’m always happy to see her.

Even wore a nice Christmas tie for the occasion.

Courage  went too, and we patiently waited until it was our turn.

Bow-Tie is curious to see what the vet techs are doingI’m always curious about what’s going on, so I interact with the vet techs.

They think I’m funny… and nosey.

Courage is proud of being healthyCourage was finished first and got a purrfect report.

She was all proud of herself.

What? No, I'm not chubby!Remember I started out saying this news was not so good?

Well, here it comes…

…the vet came in with a report she printed out.

She said she wanted to discuss something.

Ready for the bad report?

Here’s what she showed us…

Bow-Tie's weight chart

Bow-Tie is ashamedShe said I had a weight problem!!!

Me!!!

I was so embarrassed.

All I could do was hang my head in shame.

Me.

Chubby.

Really?

Small incident at the vet's officeI know it’s not healthy for cats to be overweight.

I am just now starting to carry a little extra weight, so we’ll catch it early.

But it’s the Christmas season, and I am going to have to be treat-less.

There better be extra toys in that stocking to make up for the missing treats.

“A bit chubby” was the vet’s description.

How embarrassing.

So with hunger pangs and embarrassment I say bye for this week.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – October 24, 2016

Bow-Tie needs to address something importantHi my friends!

Can I talk to you about something very serious?

This time of the year everybody is talking about Trick or Treat.

I don’t like tricks.

Bow-Tie thinks of treatsBut I sure do like treats!

Bow-Tie talks about cat treatsCat treats, that is.

Cat treats are the only ones we cats should eat.

Bow-Tie reads the labelI’m always careful to read the label before I eat anything.

Bow-Tie tests treats for CourageI’m also very good at protecting my sisters from bad things.

I do taste tests for them. (Hee hee)

Candy is not good for cats.

Humans have to be especially careful this time a year.

There is an abundance of candy around and we are, after all, curious cats.

Sugar is never good, chocolate is often toxic, and all kinds of bad things can happen.

Bow-Tie has a serious discussion about cat treatsChocolate covered raisins are a double whammy.

They can cause kidney failure.

Please protect your kitties this season.

No candy for cats.

Cat treats only, please.

Annie Sullivan compliments Bow-Tie

Bow-Tie writes a good blog, doesn’t he?

He’s too humble to say so himself, but I’m not!

And now he’s embarrassed.

But I think Bow-Tie rules!

Love from both of us,

Bow-Tie (and me, Annie Sullivan)

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – October 3, 2016

Hi Everyone!

I was out and about town this week.

Courage went with me just for fun.

Bow-Tie and Courage in the car.We get to ride in the front seat, because we’re both such good passengers.

Pets are supposed to be secured in cages or carriers.

But we are very good, we drove very slow, and we only had to go a few blocks.

Anyway, who could put us in a cage when we’re so cute and just sitting here so good?

We went to our favorite little pet supply here in town just to say hi.

They like it when we come in, because there are no other cats who visit.

Only drooly dogs visit.

We’re unique.

Bow-Tie in pet storeAs soon as we got there, I made a beeline for the cat department.

There are plenty of products in here for cats, but not what I’m looking for.

Bow-Tie spotted somethingWait… what’s over there?

Something really attracted my attention.

Bow-Tie found a balloonThere it is up close and purrsonal.

I don’t even know what that is, but it made my bow tie flip over.

Bow-Tie takes a closer lookLet me get a closer look…

…that is just completely fascinating!

Bow-Tie saw something interestingWait!

Now, what’s that over there???

Bow-Tie helped himself to some treatsI reached up on the shelf and pulled some treats down by myself.

I was so fast there is no picture as evidence.

Bow-Tie opened the packageThe package was easy to rip open, so I did.

(We’ll have to buy this one now.)

Bow-Tie found toonaIt’s pure tuna and it’s made in the USA.

Mmmmmmm.

Bow-Tie found a spot to restI relaxed while Courage paid for the purchase.

Courage can't readShe paid in treats.

She couldn’t see the sign she’s standing on.

It says, “Do not put pets on the counter top food is placed here.”

But blind girls don’t read.

And pretty girls do whatever they want to.

See you next week!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – August 29, 2016

Bow-Tie is ready to workHi Everyone,

We were out of town last weekend at a cat show.

It was full of those “fancy pants” cats.

So, being shelter cats we needed to do something special to stand out.

That’s what I do best.

Who could resist this face and these eyes?

But you see this paper I’m lying on?

It’s the story and pictures of where I came from.

I pass it out to everyone, and they are so interested.

It’s about the terrible beginning I had, and where I am today.

When they read it, something exciting happens.

Bow-Tie collects money

The dig into their pockets and wallets and give me money!

I love collecting money for the Friends Like Me Fund for special needs cats!

Bow-Tie is popular with the ladiesOf course there is a lot of socializing to do.

People come from all over to see me and hug me.

Ladies I don’t even know want to get some “Bow-Tie time.”

I’m happy to oblige.

Bow-Tie offers a photo opportunityThere were little people there too.

She asked for her picture with me.

Bow-Tie shows his tailThen I found out what she really asked for…

…to “see the kitty with no tail!”

Come on kid, I have other attributes!

Corage ready for the show ringCourage was there too, and she went into the show ring.

She did really good and brought a lot of awareness to special needs cats.

Mary helping outOur favorite Cat Depot Volunteer, Miss Mary, was there to help watch over us.

She was a lot of fun.

Thanks, Friend!

It was a very tiring weekend, but profitable for special needs cats.

We got donations, we got recognition, and…

Bow-Tie and Courage take a nap

…we got tired.

Tired in a good way, though.

We’re working for special needs cats, and that matters!

See you next week, says the “Cat with no tail!”

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – August 22, 2016

Hi Everyone,

What a fun week I’ve had!

I’m feeling great, and I got a new toy.

Usually I don’t play with toys, but this one has me hooked.

We have the garage all set up as a kitty playroom.

Sometimes I go out there to see what the youngsters are all excited about.

There it was, dangling from the scratching post.

I was intrigued.

It’s not much to look at, but I gave it a whack just to entertain Mixie and Annie.Bow-Tie playing

(Please pardon the view you’re getting in this photo. It’s somewhat embarrassing.)

Bow-Tie and a new toyWhen I hit it, it spun out of control and the chase was on.

It’s just a wire with some doodads on the ends, but it flies like the wind.

Annie Sullivan playingAnnie Sullivan heard it flying around and wanted to check it out.

Courage and Bow-Tie playingCourage heard it too and she caught it in mid-air.

Courage and Annie Sullivan playingThe girls took over for a little while.

It was cute that they could both hear it, and they played together with it.

Bow-Tie and Annie Sullivan sneaking on the toyAnnie and I hid and stalked it.

Bow-Tie and Annie Sullivan conquered the toyAnd the victory was ours.

I love it.

It’s a Cat Dancer Interactive Cat Toy.

If you don’t have one, tell your humans to go out right now and get you one.

Check the Cat Depot Gift Shop first!

If they don’t have them yet, tell them it has the Bow-Tie paw of approval and to get some!

Bow-Tie is tired from playingIt uses a lot of energy, is good exercise…

…and wears a guy out.

It’s a good thing.

See you next week!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – July 11, 2016

Bow-Tie by the poolDear Everyone,

I have one word for this week – HOT.

As in, it’s hot outside.

As in, be careful, because it’s hot outside.

On the weekends i usually like to go out into the sunshine.

It feels good to be outside.

Many cats in Florida have caged-in lanais so they can go to the back yard without getting lost.

Annie Sullivan in a beach chairMy sisters like it too.

Everything is new and exciting to little Annie Sullivan.

Courage in a beach chairCourage loves to put her face up to the sun and feel the warmth.

How she can stand it in that long fur coat is beyond me.

Bow-Tie likes to watch the waterMy place to enjoy the sun is by the water.

No, I do not go swimming, but I enjoy looking at the water.

Speaking of water, cats need to drink water if they are outside.

Make sure there is plenty of fresh water available if you let your cat out.

If your cat goes outside, make sure you are with them.

In this heat, make sure it’s only for a short time.

Bow-Tie and Annie Sullivan by the poolOutside is not a good place for cats.

Cat Depot always recommends keeping cats on a leash and harness, or in an enclosed, safe area.

Keep your eye on the cats, like I do for Annie Sullivan.

Did you know cats don’t pant to cool off like a dog?

We pant and sweat through our feet.

(A big old dripping tongue hanging out is too undignified for a cat.)

Bow-Tie squints at the sunThe bright sunshine sometimes hurts our eyes too.

The famous Mighty Lou wore sunglasses.

We don’t have sunglasses and it’s just too bright.

Bow-Tie seeks out the shadeIf your cat goes outside with you, make sure they are safe and cool.

Cats are smart.

We will find a cool (or at least less hot) place to rest.

Bow-Tie talks to Annie SullivanBut then, when it’s just too hot, like it is now…

…we have a little discussion with the young ones who don’t have any sense.

We tell them the best thing to do is go inside and cool off.

Bow-Tie kisses Annie SullivanWe wipe the tears away from the crying young ones who don’t want to stop playing.

And we go inside, out of the heat.

See you next week.

Be cool!

Courage dressed up for a weddingHi Everyone,

Just so you don’t think I hog all of the spotlight, I’ll tell you about Courage’s adventure.

She had a big day… a girly thing.

She went to a doggie wedding.

She got dressed up in pearls and everything.

She can’t see how pretty she is, but I tell her.

The brideThe bride was very fancy.

She had lace, feathers, pearls, and lots of bling.

The ClergyThe Clergy was there to perform the ceremony.

Her name is Reverend Betty Lou.

Courage sat on the tableThe ceremony was beautiful and then there was a reception.

Courage got a special place setting.

She sat on the table, but no one seemed to mind.

Everyone loved her and wanted their picture taken with her.

Even the bride’s mother wanted a picture of Courage and the bride.

Courage meets the brideThat’s when things started to go bad.

“Kiss the kitty” is okay once, but then it annoys the cat.

Courage wacks the brideCourage whacked the bride right in the face.

And on her wedding day.

Bad Courage.

Bad dog.

Good event.

See you next week!
