Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – March 28, 2016

Bow-Tie with film cameraHi Everyone,

I’m so excited!

What a great week I had and I can’t wait to share it!

This week my blog will be a picture show.

Know why?

Because a big California screenwriter came to see me and Cat Depot.

The best thing is, he adopted one of my special needs friends!

This is Hunter.

Hunter, special needs cat from the Friends Like Me program

Hunter has neurological problems and walks all wobbly.

His head is wobbly too, but he’s so cute.

Hunter relaxing, being cuteThis is the face that attracted his new dad.

I put it on my Facebook page and asked someone to please adopt him.

It worked!

His new dad flew in from California and swooped him up.

Hunter had no idea what was in store for him.

Hunter, special needs cat, looking around his new homeThis is his confused face (hee hee hee)

He just flew all the way across the country and found himself in a new place.

Any cat would be confused.

Hunter looking around his new roomBut he relaxed very quickly.

Looking around the room, he senses there may be some music in his future.

Hunter with his new big brotherHe has a new big brother too.

Brother Saigo is cool, but there’s that confused look on Hunter’s face again.

Hunter lies down to eatHunter likes to lie down to eat.

Saigo probably thought that was weird, but it didn’t interrupt his own dinner.

Hunter on his yoga matHunter has to exercise his legs so he can walk better.

He brought his own yoga mat with him.

Hunter is going to have a long, happy life in Sunny California.

Hunter happy to be a valley boyHe’s a Valley Boy now, and he’s really happy…

…this is his big smile face.

I’m so happy for Hunter and so thankful to his new dad.

Thanks also to Cat Depot for giving him a chance, and to his foster dad, Dennis.

You want to know why his new dad knew about Friends Like Me all the way in California?

Because one day he Googled “Super Hero Cat” and found this…

Mighty Lou Super Hero Cat

…the founder of Friends Like Me.

Awwww.

Thanks everyone!

See you next week.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – March 7, 2016

Hi Everyone,

I am tired.

The big Love Me Do Gala was last night.

I didn’t get home until midnight.

I just may go back to bed after I write this.

The gala?

Fantastic!

Bow-tie working check-inThe first thing I had to oversee was the check-in table.

We made sure everyone got a pretty yellow wristband.

Then it was on to greeting some of the guests.

Bow-tie discusses Bow-tiesOne very special fellow was one of the first to arrive.

He wore a bow tie just for me!

He’s the dad of my good feline buddy.

…another dude wore a bow tie just for te picture with me.

I’m flattered by both of them.

There were some really cool pink glasses I tried to knock off.

But Ringo himself stopped me. (he he he he)

Bow-Tie with the chance drawing ticketsThere were great raffle items.

The big prize of the night was a trip to London.

I didn’t win.

Bow-Tie meeting Sgt. PepperThere were tiny kittens visiting the crowd.

Sgt. Pepper himself brought one over to visit me.

It was a wonderful night and lots of money was raised to help all the cats.

There was only one guest who got to sit on the table for the video…

…oh yes I did!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – October 19, 2015

Bow-Tie has a new bow tie with starsHi Whitey,

See my new tie?

It has stars.

It’s a gift from Miss Marianne at Cat Depot.

I’m wearing it today to tell you I’m not going to be the star of the blog today.

Today I’m going to let Helen Keller be the star.

Helen Keller dressed up for the eventWe got her all dressed up for the big day.

Isn’t she cute?

You may or may not know that Caroline Resnick is a trapper and works with feral cats.

She is the nice lady who trapped Helen Keller and first realized she had special needs.

It’s only fitting that Helen Keller shines in this blog.

Here ya go.

Caroline donated funds to Cat Depot for the Caroline Resnick Surgical Suite.

That’s where Cat Depot spays and neuters feral cats to control the population and ensure their health.

The ribbon cutting was Friday and Helen Keller wanted to be there to honor Caroline.

Miss Marianne decorated the tables.Decoration for ribbon cutting ceremony

She even included little feral traps she made out of paper.

There ceremony was about to begin, but before it did…

Helen Keller and Caroline Resnick… Caroline spent a quiet moment with Helen Keller.

Ribbon cutting ceremony_resizedThe ribbon cutting was about to happen.

Cameras were already rolling.

Caroline had to make sure Helen Keller’s tutu was presentable for the big moment.

TV crewA television crew came to cover the event.

It’s possible you may see that little pink tutu on the big screen!

And then it happened.

The ribbon was cut and the applause broke out.

The Caroline Resnick Surgical Suite was official…

Ribbon is cut_resized Caroline Resnick surgical suite_resized

…and ready to change the face of the feral population in the area.

A truly necessary service provided by Caroline, the trappers with her here, and Cat Depot.

Helen Keller and trappoerWait a minute.

Now, here’s something you don’t see every day.

A rough, tough, manly feral trapper holding a kitty in a pink tutu.

Ahhh… they all fall for the pretty girl.

Bow tieThere you have it – the day Helen Keller’s star shined.

And all I got was a bow tie.

Next week!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – September 8th

Dear Whitey,

This was a huge week for me, for Cat Depot, and for our feline friends.

I know you and your family worked hard too. Everyone did.

Bow-Tie working hard for the giving challengeI was able to be there at Cat Depot when the Giving Challenge started.

Everyone was putting donations into the computers and the numbers added up fast.

They were all excited.

Bow-Tie and Petunia working for the Giving ChallengeMiss Lynn took us over to meet the people who were matching funds. Petunia and I got to go along as mascot and spokescat for Cat Depot.

Now that things have calmed down a bit, I’m going to talk to Petunia about how to hold me.

She always puts me in a choke hold. She doesn’t hurt me, but it doesn’t look professional.

I prefer a view from the top!

There we were, Petunia and me, right in front of the whole Community Foundation.

Cameras were sure snapping on this one.

Bow-Tie on Petunias head - a view from the top!

The event at JDub’s Brewery was a lot of fun.

Bow-Tie at JDub's brewery, posing with his custom label!

I got to sit on the bar all afternoon and greet people.

Bow-Tie makes a friendThe best part for me was meeting a new little friend and then seeing her adopted.

She went home that afternoon, and so did one of her siblings.

That made me really happy.

Bow-Tie at JDub's brewery, posing with his custom label!

This is a picture a lot of people posted on their Facebook pages.

Contrary to the comments by those people, I did not drink too much.

What I did was get worn out from working too hard, so I took a little cat nap.

It was a very exciting week and a very good week for Cat Depot.

The donations received during the Giving Challenge will benefit and help care for the cats all year.

My thanks to everyone who worked so hard, and everyone who gave help to our feline friends.

Have a good week, Whitey.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – August 31, 2015

Dear Whitey,

What a week I’ve had, and it’s not over yet!

Event after event, that’s my life lately. I’m loving it, but it’s a purrty grueling schedule. Not for the faint of heart.

As you know, Friday was National Bow Tie Day. As a part of that, Cat Depot offers specially selected cats for $20.00 until September 2. That’s wonderful, because we can help those guys find homes.

Gracie with bowtieI’ve been posting their pictures and stories on Facebook all week. My purrsonal favorite is Gracie.

She’s a pretty little girl and she’s special needs, so she’s close to my heart.

She has seizures so she needs medicine, but she is a wonderful girl.

If she gets adopted, I’m donating my allowance in her honor.

You said you would do the same, so let’s both hope she gets home really soon.

Then tBow Tie relaxing at Cat Depothere was the Bow-Tie Meet and Greet from 4-7 PM on Friday.

I took a nice little seat and was very laid back about the whole thing.

But then I decided to show my sense of humor for the crowd….

Bow Tie and Petunia

…I jumped on Petunia’s head and the crowd went crazy with laughter.

That was fun!

Bow Tie working the money boxOn to the next event on Saturday, which was a pet expo called Crazy 4 Paws.

My mom had a booth for her paintings, but I worked the money box.

That’s what I do best.

When people hear my story, dollars start dropping into the box.

On Sunday I’m off to a special event at JDub’s Brewery.

Bow Tie BrewThey’ve gone and done it…

…They named a beer after me!

Can you believe it?

It’s called Bow-Tie’s Brew.

Bow Tie Brew

Bow-Tie’s Brew, that’s the brew for me!

The event is from 1-4 PM and I’ll be there to see everyone. My Cat Depot friends will be there, chatting up the Giving Challenge.

Bow Tie working the receptionSpeaking of the Giving Challenge, it’s on September 1-2 from noon to noon.

This is the big deal for me and for Cat Depot.

It’s the chance to make $100,000 in 24 hours.

My shift starts at noon on September 1st.

I’ll be there, helping the wonderful volunteers answer the phones and take donations.

People can call Cat Depot from noon to noon September 1-2. They can also enter their donations online.

Bow Tie promoting the Giving ChallengeSome people have already completed forms and volunteers will be entering their donations during that time.

It’s going to be fun, because Cat Depot will be open 24 hours for a big Cat’s Pajamas time.

We’ve done everything we can to make this a fun week and build-up to the Giving Challenge. But, the Giving Challenge is really serious business.

The funds received during these 24 hours will help our feline friends live at Cat Depot until they find homes.

We all have to do our part.

We all have to tell everyone we know and have them tell everyone they know. This is so important.

Bow Tie with money bow tieOh! And for everyone who is a first time giver, their money will be doubled up to $250!

That means if you find a person who didn’t give to Cat Depot in last year’s giving challenge and they give $250, Cat Depot gets $500!

That’s huge!

So, Whitey, I know I can count on you and your family. Let’s get everyone else to commit to Giving Challenge 15.

Are ya with me?

Thanks.

The cats will be identified with bow ties on their cards.

They will also be displayed on poster boards showing their name, photo, and story.

Bow Tie, Cat Depot spokescatI’ll be bugging people all week on Facebook to go to Cat Depot on Friday. (Another little kitty pun.)

I’ll tell them to go meet and hopefully adopt those specially selected cats.

You know what else?

I will be there in purrson!

People will be able to meet me from 4-7 PM.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – August 17, 2015

Hi Whitey,

This week I attended a very important meeting at Cat Depot. We had to make sure everything is in place for the Giving Challenge. It’s September 1-2, but it takes a lot to get it all ready.

As the spokescat for the event, I was honored to be invited to attend. I was even more excited about what happened when I got there.

Miss Mary was there waiting for me and said she had a treat for me.

Do you know what the crazy lady did?

She made me a Bow-Tie Buffet!

Bow-Tie's buffet!

When she opened and served all those cans my mouth was hanging open.

I was overwhelmed.

But I dove right in…..

Bow-Tie digs in at his Cat Depot buffet

…..then it was Miss Mary’s turn to have her mouth hanging open.

She was really getting a kick out of me devouring all those delicacies. I couldn’t eat it all so she packed me a nice kitty bag to take home. She’s my new best friend!

TMeeting with Bow-Tie at Cat Depothen it was time for the meeting to start. I got to sit on the table so I could see everything and visit everyone.

That’s miss Linda with the pretty blonde hair. She makes all my bow ties.

Notice my new money tie complete with a real silver dollar!

Bow Tie and Maria at Cat DepotThe brochure they created is beautiful, isn’t it?

That’s Miss Maria with me. She will be posting our blogs from now on.

Bow Tie and Beverly at Cat DepotIt’s not often a cat gets some purrsonal time with a co-found of Cat Depot. Miss Beverly was so very tender with me she put me to sleep.

It’s not wrong to take a little cat nap during a meeting, is it?

Bow-Tie napping at Cat Depot

Anyway, that was my first meeting and I really liked it. Everyone was so nice and we are all geared up for the Giving Challenge.

Here’s to $100,000 for Cat Depot in 24 hours!

The thing that will stick with me though was the Bow-Tie Buffet provided by Miss Mary. Every time I think of it…..

See you next week.

Breaking. Official Spokescat for the 2015 Giving Challenge.

Happy August. This is going to be a busy month for me, and I’ll need your help. Actually we’ll need everyone’s help. I have been appointed Official Spokescat for the 2015 Giving Challenge. What is the Giving Challenge you say? Let me tell you! Bowtiemoneyshot

Look at my very special Giving Challenge Tie and tag. Can you get what’s being given?  Yep.

Cat Depot is challenging everyone to help them raise $100,000 in 24 hours!

Cats count on Cat Depot when their lives hang in the balance. I know that all too well.

Bowtiebefore

When I was rescued with 49 other cats I was declared the worse of the group. Starved, bloody, parasite infested, diseased, rotten teeth, infections and the list goes on. I don’t like to think about those days, but we have to in order to help others like me.

Bowtiewithmoney

Today I am the picture of health and happiness. It’s the firm financial foundation of medical care that got me healthy. (Little kitty humor there because I’m standing on money.  Get it?  he he)

This is the one time of year Cat Depot pulls out all the stops and yells “Give!”

BowtiepawingmoneyThe Patterson Foundation is ready to match funds from new donors up to $250.00 each. That means find a person who never donated to Cat Depot and get them to give! Their donation doubles. I’ll be there on this end to scoop up the cash.

The dates of the 2015 Giving Challenge are September 1st-2nd from Noon to Noon. That’s 24 hours and everyone will be working to get the funds rolling in. I’m going to be talking about it on my Facebook page so I can get my fans to give. There are some events I’m going to attend this month so I’ll promote it then, too.

Bowtiemoney3We need everyone’s help and everyone’s dollars.

And my purrsonal message will be……..

…..make what happened to me matter.

See you next week.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – June 27, 2015

Dear Whitey and Friends,

It’s been a rainy week so my adventures have been inside. In fact it was Helen Keller who had the outside adventure this week. She brought the excitement home to me.

Bow-Tie is happy about his bag of toys

There were toys involved so I was all happy.

Helen Keller gets a kiss from a friend

She got to go to Cat Depot. A special friend spent some smoochy time with her in the gift shop. She’s such a girly girl.

Sometimes Helen Keller gets a little scared in different places because she doesn’t know where she is. It looks like this was a nice quiet moment for the two of them.

Marianne and Helen Keller

Next stop was to visit someone we both know. Miss Marianne came to say hi to her. I know your mom works with Miss Marianne now doing the adoptions at Cat Depot. She’s such a nice lady. She brought a gift to Helen Keller and she sent one home for me.

Bow-Tie helps Helen Keller find her toys

I had to help her open the package and find the toys. She does everything I do but I have to be right next to her so she can feel me.

Can I tell you something confidentially?

Bow-Tie took Helen Keller's foil ball

I took advantage of the fact she can’t see. She got this foil ball in her bag and its my favorite toy. I took it and put it in my bag.

Bow-Tie is ashamed that he stole Helen Keller's foil ball

I know it was the wrong thing to do and I do feel ashamed. But it was a foil ball – I couldn’t help myself.

Bow-Tie was born to take care of Helen Keller

She got to have everything else and she’s happy. I take really good care of her.

Since she’s come to us, I have a real purpose to my life. The struggle I went through for all those years is now worth it. It taught me that no matter what hardships we have, there is always someone who is needs more.

My someone is Helen Keller.

A friend gave me a quote by Mark Twain.  It says:

“The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.”

I was born to take care of my Helen Keller.

Humans can use that quote, too, and they can find their purpose may be to dedicate themselves to helping animals.

Wouldn’t that be great?

See you next week.

Hi there, Bowtie!

I understand about the foil ball incident…I won’t tell a soul that you took it out of Helen Keller’s bag!

White Loves Foil Balls

I have a huge foil ball that I hide from Daisy Doodle and Harley. It is very special to me.

You are doing a fantastic job taking care of Helen Keller. I think you are falling for her…I see that look in your eyes. Be careful dude, you haven’t known her that long.

My Mom says she loves working with Miss Marianne, Miss Nancy and Miss Sue. They do a great job getting kittens and cats adopted every day. Did you know they have 34 new residents that came in last week? I’m getting my friends and my Mom’s friends to donate food for them.

Whitey Wobbles on the lanai

This rainy weather has me down. I like to play on the screened lanai, but it’s too wet out there. My Mom saved the day when she put my scratcher bed on the lanai for me to sit in.  She even served me dinner there!

Keep up the good work, Bowtie.  I know Mighty Lou is watching us and sending us good vibes!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – July 20, 2015

Dear Whitey,

Man-to-Man, I’ve been struggling to find my place here. But I’ve found it now and it works.

I don’t have any mighty powers but I have one thing that works………
Bow-Tie uses his cuteness to his advantage

My cuteness factor is very high. That in itself is where my strength lies.

I’m finding that it works for me and gets the job done.

See my tie? It’s full of kittens. Cat Depot is full of kittens, too.

Bow-Tie Has an Idea

An idea came to me as I was sleeping on my little couch.
The shock of it jarred me out of my sleep and I fell right off the couch!

But then I realized if I put my cuteness and kitten tie out there on Facebook, something could happen. And it did.

Once people on Facebook saw my plea to go get kittens, they did.

Now, I’m not saying everyone went to Cat Depot because I asked them to. But the fact remains there were 13 kittens adopted in one weekend and my mug was out there promoting.

Then I realized something else. My mission is to help special needs cats.

They don’t get much more special than my Helen Keller so I’m partnering with her. She and I will work together to make a double difference for special needs cats.

Bow-Tie and Helen Keller

Once she went onto Facebook and asked for help with special needs cats, people responded.

Our special needs friends, Manny and Cashmere were adopted and so was one FIV-positive guy!

THEN, people (including your humans) started saying they would send donations to Friends Like Me!

That was really fun to see.

What a fantastic weekend we had! Lots of kittens and special needs cats found forever homes.

Bow-Tie Smiling

Now I know my place in all of this. Use my cuteness, use my Helen Keller and accept the mighty powers of support sent to me from the Rainbow Bridge..

All is well.

See you next week.
