Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – March 28, 2016

Bow-Tie with film cameraHi Everyone,

I’m so excited!

What a great week I had and I can’t wait to share it!

This week my blog will be a picture show.

Know why?

Because a big California screenwriter came to see me and Cat Depot.

The best thing is, he adopted one of my special needs friends!

This is Hunter.

Hunter, special needs cat from the Friends Like Me program

Hunter has neurological problems and walks all wobbly.

His head is wobbly too, but he’s so cute.

Hunter relaxing, being cuteThis is the face that attracted his new dad.

I put it on my Facebook page and asked someone to please adopt him.

It worked!

His new dad flew in from California and swooped him up.

Hunter had no idea what was in store for him.

Hunter, special needs cat, looking around his new homeThis is his confused face (hee hee hee)

He just flew all the way across the country and found himself in a new place.

Any cat would be confused.

Hunter looking around his new roomBut he relaxed very quickly.

Looking around the room, he senses there may be some music in his future.

Hunter with his new big brotherHe has a new big brother too.

Brother Saigo is cool, but there’s that confused look on Hunter’s face again.

Hunter lies down to eatHunter likes to lie down to eat.

Saigo probably thought that was weird, but it didn’t interrupt his own dinner.

Hunter on his yoga matHunter has to exercise his legs so he can walk better.

He brought his own yoga mat with him.

Hunter is going to have a long, happy life in Sunny California.

Hunter happy to be a valley boyHe’s a Valley Boy now, and he’s really happy…

…this is his big smile face.

I’m so happy for Hunter and so thankful to his new dad.

Thanks also to Cat Depot for giving him a chance, and to his foster dad, Dennis.

You want to know why his new dad knew about Friends Like Me all the way in California?

Because one day he Googled “Super Hero Cat” and found this…

Mighty Lou Super Hero Cat

…the founder of Friends Like Me.

Awwww.

Thanks everyone!

See you next week.

Bow-TieHi everyone,

My job for Cat Depot and the cat world is to help special needs cats.

Cat Depot’s Friends Like Me Fund is my cause.

It helps these special felines, and I spread the word far and near.

This weekly blog helps spread that word.

Mighty Lou Gets His Last Word

Dear Whitey and Friends,

I’ve made a decision. There is a lot of work for this Caped Crusader to do up here on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. I need to start concentrating on getting things in order up here. There are so many beloved pets here that need me to look after them. If you know any of the humans who have lost pets, please tell them they are well and happy now. They’re with me and we’re all OK and waiting for our humans.

That said, this will be my last blog, Dude. It has been a wonderful life for me.

Mighty Lou's early days at Cat Depot

My very early days at Cat Depot saw me sporting a sign about my diabetes. Not sure why I’m wearing flowers but it was all good. That little adornment led to my real adornment…..the cape.

Mighty Lou's original cape

This is my original cape given to me by your mom. It’s the one that matches yours. Of course that lead to a whole wardrobe of capes through the years. Happily all the capes were auctioned off and brought donations to Cat Depot. But this one started it all and my mom has it.

Mighty Lou loved blogging

I loved my work especially my association with Cat Depot and my all important blogging.

Mighty Lou Central

It’s an honor to have a room at Cat Depot named in my memory. Of course it’s the Executive Director’s office since I always wanted to be in charge. “Mighty Lou Central” was dedicated on Sunday.

My friends and fans participated in a celebration of my life. So many people continue to follow me and love me. I am truly touched.

There is still so much work to do for special needs cats. I cannot be there to go out and talk to people like I did before. I need actual paws on the ground to continue my good work. So, in the next week you will see my successor step into my role. He is also a special needs guy and he’s ready to take on the challenge. He’s young and inexperienced but he has a story and needs that make him special. He will carry on the legacy of Mighty Lou and Friends Like Me.

I’ll let him introduce himself later this week but here’s a sneak preview…..

Mighty Lou's Successor has serious eyes

Look at those eyes. He’s serious about his work and he will carry on my vision.

So I leave you and go to work up here. I’ll be there in spirit for you everyday. Remember me as I remember you.

The plaque above Mighty Lou Central says “He lived, He loved and He did it his way.” And I did.

Migjhty Lou, Caped Crusader

Thank you everyone.

Love,
Mighty Lou, Caped Crusader

Whitey’s Final Word to Mighty Lou

To my best friend in the whole world, Mighty Lou…

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking since you sent me your final word. You are doing the right thing, good buddy. You need to tend to business on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. I can handle things here. Don’t worry…I will carry on as if you were here; working hard for all our friends at Cat Depot and especially the special needs kitties.

You and I had a good run, but it is time to move on. I have made the decision to retire my cape. It just doesn’t feel right to wear it without you here.

Whitey Wobbles wears his cape for the last time

I will work just as hard and I know you will be sending me extra powers. So for now, this is it…the last time I will wear this cape.

Whitey Wobbles

Hi Whitey and Friends,

Writing that got me to thinking about friends. Friends are what it’s about, right? If you have friends you have a happy life. I was lucky enough to have a lot of friends and that made me happy. Everyone is different and we can’t judge our friends for their difference.  For instance…..

Mighty Lou has lots of friends

We can’t judge our friends if they look a little kooky. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Little Girl has a grip on Mighty Lou

Sometimes our friends hold us a little too tight. But they love us so we let them hang on……..all in the name of love.

Mighty Lou and dressed-up doggie

We should always tell our friends they look pretty……..even if they are a little over the top. That just makes them unique.

Mighty Lou and monkey friend

And when our friends are less attractive than others, we need to love them even more. When others look away or treat them bad, we need to love them even more. They are just like us on the inside.

Mighty Lou and Lily

And, when we find that extra special someone, we need to be the kindest of all. We need to make sure they get our best. Even when our best means we can’t touch their food even if they don’t eat it as fast as us. Know what I mean?

Whitey Wobbles is Mighty Lou's Best Friend

Whitey, you are my best friend, my caped buddy. Carry on my mission to help cats especially those with special needs.

Mighty Lou's Kitten friends

Tell all the humans that cats make the best friends. Tell them there are always too many cats waiting for too few homes. (The similarity in looks to mine is purely coincidental)

Tell them to go to Cat Depot and pick out a best friend. Thank you, my friend.

Love,
Mighty Lou, Caped Crusader

Mighty Lou Heard It

Dear Whitey and Friends,

Can you believe I heard something from the other side of the Rainbow Bridge? And did you notice I used the word “hear?” Yes, I can hear up here! All of the animals who were not physically perfect down there are perfect up here! Please tell the humans who loved them so much that we are all in perfect health!

Anyway, this is what I heard:

I heard that I am going to be a TV star once again! My friend, Marsha Panuce is going to feature me on her TV program again.

Mighty Lou does his happy dance

And this was my reaction:

My happy dance!

Mighty Lou and Marsha Panuce

Here’s Marsha and me. She loves me so. Marsha’s show is called Animal Outtakes. It’s on WWSB ABC7 in Sarasota. The show will air on Saturday, April 18th at 6:30 AM.

I know you’re up early but if your humans oversleep, they can catch it on www.mysuncoast.com.

Mighty Lou is still a winner

And so, Dude, your old Mighty Lou is still a winner……even now!

Thanks to Marsha and thanks to everyone for continuing to keep my memory and spirit alive!

I love you all.

Mighty Lou, Caped Crusader

From the Files of Mighty Lou – April 5, 2015

Dear Whitey and Friends,

It’s Easter. Another day for humans to do silly things. Another day I went along with it.

Mighty Lou Wearing Bunny Ears

I remember this day. Those ears seemed a little heavy and made me list to the right. Later on we straightened them up but this was a funny pose. Of course it never made the cut for the blog that year because it was a little off (in more ways than one). Since these are my notes coming from my files, I’m sharing it with you just for fun.

Mighty Lou and Sparkles

And then of course everyone wanted to get a closer look at the great Mighty Lou. Is she kidding me? Is that outfit a little outrageous? And nail polish? Her name is Sparkles for good reason.

But in all seriousness, I think about something else on this day. This is Easter – Resurrection Day. Resurrection means coming back to life. And isn’t that what every cat at Cat Depot does? We come back to life when we’re rescued. We get a second chance at life.

We come in there in one state or another but it’s always a state of need. We need medical care, food, love, human care. And that’s what we all get.

Mighty Lou's Easter Wish

Do on this resurrection day, please continue my work of helping cats, especially special needs cats. Do it for me, Whitey and Friends. Do it for the cats who need so much. (Donate to Friends Like Me)

And hey, Whitey and Friends……….

Mighty Lou as the Easter Bunny

Smile when you remember me!

Love you,
Mighty Lou, Caped Crusader

Hey Whitey and Friends,

Here’s another of my many archived tidbits………..

Mighty Lou Weathers the Storm

You know what I’ve been thinking about lately? The storms of life. The seas are not always calm, my friend. Sometimes they’re a little rough and your footing is a little unsure.

Mighty Lou on Boat

Sometimes you have to get out there and look into the distance to chart the best course in life.

Humans are great at just plunging in and then getting themselves into trouble. They make fun of cats because we plan every move with caution. But isn’t that better?

Mighty Lou in the Driver's Seat

I like to get into the driver’s seat right away. Mighty Lou likes to be in charge, as you know. When I’m in charge and rough seas come, I can calm the storms with my mighty cape power.

We have power to calm the storms in our humans’ lives, too. You know how? With our purr. Yep, nothing calms a human quicker or more efficiently than the purr of a good cat.

So help me spread the word. “Adopt” is the word of the day. “Adopt” is the only way.

Mighty Lou knows all

And there is yet another storm calmed by the Mighty One!
Later, Dudes,
Mighty Lou, Caped Crusader

Hey Mighty Lou,

I really miss you, Caped buddy! I do look forward to your files, but it’s not same.

I continue to work hard to tell humans how important it is to adopt our little furry friends at Cat Depot. They all dream of a forever home like you and I have or had.

You are so right about our “purrs” being so calming to our humans. My Mom melts when I purr. I can pretty much get anything I want with a little purr!

Whitey Wobbles takes a nap

I’m working hard to spread the word to adopt, donate or volunteer to help Cat Depot!
Time for my nap.

From The Files of Mighty Lou – March 24, 2015

Hello Friends,

Here’s another file I’m leaving behind. My file cabinet is full so Ol’ Mighty Lou’s wisdom will be floating around for a while.

This is the first week of Spring!

Mighty Lou with Goggles

Pictures from my files show me looking both enthusiastic and somewhat remiss about the whole thing. Don’t know if it was the warmer weather or the ridiculous goggles but it’s not one of my better looks.

Mighty Lou is ready to swim

This gives a little better angle. Can’t mess with the handsomeness of Mighty Lou.

You know what I think is important though?

Mighty Lou with Rubber Ducky

That no matter who you are, human or feline, that you have someone you enjoy spending time with. I always loved everyone I spent time with.

Please help continue to spread the word to humans that cats are some of the best friends they will every have. Cats fill the heart in places other people can’t.

You keep promoting adoption. And for my sake, please keep promoting those special needs guys…….they’re the best.

As for me?  I’m still working…..just in a different place.

Love ya.

Mighty Lou Naps on the Blanket

Bye for now.

Files Mighty Lou Left Behind

Hi Whitey,

If you’re reading this, I’m not here anymore but my spirit and my humor will live for ever. You help people remember me and always remember my mission, to help special needs cats.

Since you’re my closest feline friend and my caped buddy, I’m going to share some “outtakes” from some of my blogs. I only liked to show my best to my public, but I don’t mind letting you see the behind the scenes misadventures.

This is from the time I met Jackson Galaxy, Cat Daddy. He was really smitten with me and I know he’ll remember me forever.

Mighty Lou trying on his Jackson Galaxy cap

Being fit for that bald head was something. It seemed a little heavy at first.

Mighty Lou is falling over

When I got my glasses on, the whole thing started to list to the right.

An off moment for Mighty Lou

I knew I had to turn this around. No way was I going to let my public see me struggle with a stupid bald head.

Finally got her going in the right direction.

Mighty Lou in his Jackson Galaxy Get Up

This is what the public saw. The other ones made you laugh, didn’t they?

You help keep my humor alive, man.

From the Files of Mighty Lou

Hi Whitey,

Don’t freak, my man. I was not able to garner up enough cape power to get back to you. Sorry. But I don’t want my good work and my legacy to help special needs cats to stop because I had to leave. I have left behind volumes of my oh-so-creative and ever-entertaining writings to still thrill my public. Your Ol’ Mighty Lou cannot be silenced. The work is too big and has to go on.

So……

…writings and pictures will go on.

Mighty Lou at His Computer

My weekly blog will go on and my Facebook page will go on.

I have left instructions in my files that someday, somewhere, someone will take my place. (I already have some ideas).

Until you receive further instruction from me, know that I’m here, on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, watching over special needs cats everywhere.

I miss everyone and I know everyone is sad because I’m no longer there.

Don’t be sad.

Continue my work and my files will direct the path.

With cape power from beyond, I am,

Response from Whitey Wobbles

I hear you good buddy! You just made my day, because I do miss my best caped buddy (BCB) very much.

I’m staying on this side of the rainbow bridge to carry on as you direst! You can count on Whitey Wobbles!

Whitey Wobbles and his friends

I have been teaching Daisy Doodles and Harley a few things that will help us also. They are all for helping special needs cats and Cat Depot cats in general. They both donated their allowance to buy food for the monthly food bank.

Keep up the instructions from wherever you are…good to hear from you, ML!

Your Caped friend,
