Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – February 6, 2017

Bow-Tie caught at a bad timeOops! Sorry.

You caught me off guard and at a very embarrassing moment.

Bow-Tie cleans upLet me just clean up a bit and then we’ll talk.

Since we’re here, let’s just stay on the subject.

Familiar scene for cat ownersAnd the subject is familiar to all cat owners.

It’s that all too familiar litter box.

It’s the place we cats do our business, hopefully in private.

(I did not know the cameras were rolling.)

But there’s a problem that’s also familiar to many cat owners.

Look closely…

Culprit lurking in the corner

…the problem is that culprit lurking in the shadows, way back there.

Watch for it.

Culprit caught in the crimeAnd there it is…

…she swoops in to sift out some tasty morsels.

Why do dogs consider the remnants we express as delicacies?

Look of shameYou think this is the face of shame?

It’s not.

Sheer pleasureIt’s the face of satisfaction…

…and sheer pleasure.

The dog laughed and laughed and laughedI sat her down and explained exactly where those little delicacies come from.

You know what she did?

She threw her head back and laughed and laughed and laughed.

I’m not sure if she didn’t believe me, or if she just didn’t care.

Bow-Tie doesn't understand dogsYou know what?

I don’t get dogs.

Bow-Tie says cats rule but dogs droolAnd that is why they say…

…dogs drool and cats rule!

See you next week!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – January 23, 2017

Hi Everybody!

Do you see me?

Bow-Tie

Do you see me now?

Bow-Tie pillow

He he he!

Bow-Tie going bananasPretty funny, isn’t he?

I had to change my bow tie for this message…

…because this is driving me bananas!

Bow-Tie thinks there's a striking resemblanceLook at this guy…

..he does bear an amazing resemblance if I say so myself.

A dear friend saw him and had to get him for me.

Bow-Tie looking at the pillowI am very fond of him already (though I do feel his eyes follow me everywhere.)

Bow-Tie can't lick his own earOne thing I enjoy very much about him is this:

I can reach his shriveled little ear and I can’t reach my own.

Bow-Tie licking his clone's earI like to get right in there and do it really good for him…

…much like I would like someone here to do for me.

The girls around here say it’s yucky, and they won’t do it.

It’s not.

Relaxing in the sunI enjoy nice afternoons outside with my new buddy.

He watches over me (ahhh, those eyes)

A good place for a napAnd an added bonus to this new friendship?

He gives me a really soft place to take a nap in the sun.

The eyes have it!

Have a great week!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – January 16, 2017

Dear Friends,

I don’t mean to brag, but look at my handsome mug.

Bow-Tie Handsome Mug

I’ve always thought I was good looking and somewhat dapper.

Now I have proof that others have the same view.

Bow-Tie portraitFirst there was the portrait.

I was immortalized in this watercolor portrait.

Brilliant likeness of ny handsomess I’d say.

But wait… it gets better.

The magazine cover made Bow-Tie blushThen there was the magazine cover.

This one went out to the whole wide world (well, kinda).

I was so proud it made me blush.

Bow-Tie on a handmade bookWhat happened next shocked even me.

Look at this beautiful, handmade book.

The students in a Ringling College Book Binding class had a project.

They were told to find a photo they loved.

The photo was used to create a handmade stitched book.

This student had no idea who I was, she just loved the picture in the magazine.

She found out my name and the artist’s name and bam, “Bow-Tie” was named as the model.

So, she found the artist (who happens to live with me) and brought her a book to give to me.

How flattering and kind.

Bow-Tie pawtographAs soon as I got the book I pawtographed page #1.

Bow-Tie proud of his pawtographI’m quite proud of my original artwork.

Bow-Tie winksIt’s fun to be popular!

Love you all.

Bow-Tie contemplatingHappy New Year, Everyone!

The parties are all over.

The holidays are behind us.

It’s a brand new year – Welcome 2017.

Bow-Tie the morning afterAs we start this new year, I’m just sitting here, thinking.

I have some unfinished business from the year just past.

Something very important to me.

It involves some of my special friends.

Stardust wore a party hat, ready to celebrate her forever homeThis is Stardust.

She had her party hat on last night.

She was all set to go to a new home for the new year.

But guess what?

She’s still at Cat Depot this morning.

Stardust is disappointed no one came for herShe took the party hat off, because no one came for her.

She’s just looking around, wondering why no one wanted to adopt her.

She is the longest term resident at Cat Depot.

She’s sad, and I’m sad for her.

I’m all about making everyone happy.

Stardust deserves to be happy in a home of her own for 2017.

Stardust

She really is a beautiful girl.

She’s seven years young, loves to play and snuggle.

She needs special food, but a generous donor has provided a six-month supply.

Her adoption fee has been reduced to $30.00.

I have been promoting her, but still no home.

I won’t give up on her.

I will see to it that early 2017 is her turn to go to a permanent home!

Guess who else is still sitting at Cat Depot, waiting for a home?

ChamomileMeet Chamomile.

Isn’t that a pretty name?

Chamomile is 3 1/2 years old.

She loves other cats, so wants to find a home with other feline friends.

She’s a little shy around people, so wants to find a home with a patient pet parent.

Both Stardust and Chamomile are long-time residents, and dream of finding homes.

Bow-Tie ready to raise a glassI’m working as their purrsonal ambassador to find those homes.

This is me smiling, ready to make a toast to their new homes!

You’ll hear a big cheer from me when that happens.

As we wait to hear the good news, I wish you all a Very Happy New Year.

Heartfelt thanks to all humans who help us felines.

We need you, and we love you more than you’ll ever know.

Happy 2017!

Bow-Tie wishes everyone a Merry ChristmasMeowy Christmas, Everyone!

It’s Christmas morning as I write this.

It makes me think about what’s been going on, and what’s really important.

Bow-Tie under the wrapping paper. It's a cat thing. There was all the wrapping to do.

People get all stressed out about it and make it a big deal.

To a cat, it’s simple…

…jump into the pile, then take a nap.

Bow-Tie and Courage shoppingThere was all the shopping to do.

People get stressed about about that too.

To a cat, that’s simple too…

…get what’s important and get on with it.

Everyone togetherThen there’s the gifts.

Cats like gifts too.

I love this toy!But cats’ needs are simple…

…just one little something makes us very happy.

Nap with someone you love - Bow-Tie and Courage sleepingWhen it’s all said and done,

one thing is the most important.

Spending time with someone you love…

Adopting a cat will give everyone someone to love.

But then one question remains on Christmas morning…

Bow-Tie wonders who will clean up the mess.

Yikes! Who’s gonna clean up this mess?

Merry Christmas.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – December 19, 2016

Bow-Tie arrived early, on the lookout for carriersHi Everyone,

My heart feels so good this week.

We made our first delivery of Carriers for Cats.

That’s the program that provides carriers for people who do not have them.

It’s all about safety for the cats.

We drove to the assigned location for the pickup of carriers.

I got there early and was on the lookout for the delivery.

Bow-Tie's box with carriersAnd there it is!

No mistaking the special labeling!

Bow-Tie piled all the carriers in the carWe loaded all 15 carriers into my transport vehicle.

Every carrier received my paw stamp of approval.

Then we were on our way to Cat Depot.

Bow-Tie arrived to Cat Depot with carriers piled highOnce we arrived at Cat Depot, I got into the driver’s seat.

We piled them high and headed in to distribute them.

Bow-Tie with a group of friends from Cat DepotMy friends from the clinic and adoption staff met me to receive the carriers.

They were all so thankful to have them.

They told me just that morning a lady came in with her cat in a bag.

She had no carrier and needed to get her cat to the clinic.

We’re grateful she brought the cat into the clinic.

Now she can have a new carrier, so her cat is safe.

Thank you to the anonymous angel who made this all possible.

Carriers for Cats is now part of the Friends Like Me Program.

It does a heart good to help someone… human or feline.

Have a happy week!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – December 12, 2016

Bow-Tie's vet check up started wellDear Everyone,

I’m going to tell you something pretty purrsonal.

There was a little incident and some news this week.

Generally I like to spread good news.

This however is not so good.

I had my 6-month check-up at the vet this week.

Bow-Tie and Courage waiting at the vet's officeIt all started out pretty good.

I like my vet and I’m always happy to see her.

Even wore a nice Christmas tie for the occasion.

Courage  went too, and we patiently waited until it was our turn.

Bow-Tie is curious to see what the vet techs are doingI’m always curious about what’s going on, so I interact with the vet techs.

They think I’m funny… and nosey.

Courage is proud of being healthyCourage was finished first and got a purrfect report.

She was all proud of herself.

What? No, I'm not chubby!Remember I started out saying this news was not so good?

Well, here it comes…

…the vet came in with a report she printed out.

She said she wanted to discuss something.

Ready for the bad report?

Here’s what she showed us…

Bow-Tie's weight chart

Bow-Tie is ashamedShe said I had a weight problem!!!

Me!!!

I was so embarrassed.

All I could do was hang my head in shame.

Me.

Chubby.

Really?

Small incident at the vet's officeI know it’s not healthy for cats to be overweight.

I am just now starting to carry a little extra weight, so we’ll catch it early.

But it’s the Christmas season, and I am going to have to be treat-less.

There better be extra toys in that stocking to make up for the missing treats.

“A bit chubby” was the vet’s description.

How embarrassing.

So with hunger pangs and embarrassment I say bye for this week.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – December 5, 2016

Bow-Tie can't walk away from the projectDear Everyone,

I can’t walk away from this project… It’s in full stride now. (See the word game I played right there? Haha!)

I’m talking about Carriers for Cats.

Last week I introduced it, and guess what happened?

People are jumping on board to help!

Bow-Tie approves of this carrier

Carriers for Cats is now part of the Friends Like Me program.

A good friend of mine had the idea to donate cat carriers for people who cannot afford them.

Now other people are asking if they can donate carriers, or donate the cost to purchase one.

Of course you can!

Every cat needs to be safe when they are transported.

Plastic boxes are not safe as cat carriersThe clinic sees some pretty unsafe modes of transportation every day.

For instance…

…plastic totes are brought in carrying cats way too often.

Why aren’t they safe?

Because if they are left open, the cat can easily jump out when frightened.

With the lid on, the cat won't get any airAnd because they have lids…

…when closed there is no air, and the cat will suffer.

It's easy to jump out of a plastic boxAlso, when the lid is opened…

…the nervous and frightened cat will pop out and probably run.

Bow-Tie likes to ride shotgun, but it's not safeSome cats (like me) enjoy going places.

Some of us like to just cruise around, sitting on the seat of the car.

As cool as that looks, it’s not safe.

The only way to transport a cat is in a safe carrier made for cats.

That’s what carriers for cats is all about.

Safety.

I will make the first delivery of Carriers for Cats on Friday, December 18th.

I will be at Cat Depot with them at 2 PM.

After that, we’ll make regular monthly deliveries.

Our goal is to get every cat that comes into the clinic a safe ride.

Bow-Tie with a funny urnAnd, by the way, don’t even think about putting a cat in something stupid for transport.

This, for instance, is not safe, and it’s way below the dignity of a cat.

Bow-Tie and Annie Sullivan exploring the urnBesides, it’s easy to jump out.

Safety first!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – November 28, 2016

Bow-Tie on top of the worldDear Friends,

I’m speaking to you from on top of the world today!

Well, actually I’m speaking to you from on top of a cat carrier.

But I’m on top of the world about a very special announcement!

Bow-Tie inside a carrierWondering why I’m in a cat carrier?

Wondering why I’m so excited about cat carriers?

Cats in CarriersWell that’s my big announcement.

I’m introducing a very special program called, “Cats in Carriers.”

A dear friend of the Friends Like Me program contacted me.

She heard about a lady who took her two cats to the vet in a cardboard box.

She did not have a proper cat carrier.

When they got to the vet, one of the cats jumped out of the box and ran away.

We commend her for taking the cats to the vet.

We are saddened by the loss of one of her beloved cats.

Cats in CarriersOur dear friend asked me if she could provide carriers through the Friends Like Me program.

I could not have said “yes” fast enough, because the need is actually great.

People do transport their cats in an unsafe manner, and we need to fix that.

Cats in CarriersShe ran out right away and purchased the first batch of cat carriers.

She mixed it up in color so they’re even more exciting.

Cats in CarriersThey’re nice and roomy, even for the biggest cat.

“Cats in Carriers” will become an ongoing part of the Friends Like Me program at Cat Depot.

The carriers will be distributed through Cat Depot’s clinic to people who do not have and cannot afford them.

My friend wants to remain anonymous (to everyone but me.)

So I will personally make the first delivery of carriers to Cat Depot very soon.

Bow-Tie endorsedThe “Cats in Carriers” part of Friends Like Me is Bow-Tie endorsed!

A cat carrier is the only safe way to transport your cat…

Bow-Tie squished

…the cat doesn’t have to like it, but they will be safe.

Thank you to my very good and generous friend of Friends Like Me!

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – November 21, 2016

Bow-Tie got a cardDear Friends,

Look what I got!

I got a Thanksgiving Day card in the mail.

It’s from my friend Mike and the Kitties.

He’s generous with Cat Depot, and is especially generous with the Friends Like Me Fund.

Thank you, Mike and the Kitties!

(Yes, you do see someone trying to sneak into the picture.)

Bow-Tie feels specialI feel pretty special that someone remembers me so often, and helps my special needs friends.

I feel pretty special indeed!

Bow-Tie and Annie SullivanThe card makes me think about things I’m thankful for, and I have a lot of things.

I was saved from a very, very bad situation, and now I have a wonderful home.

And as I look around I see my special friends who love me, and I love them back.

We all need friends.

We need each other.

So, my short and sweet message this week is to be thankful.

Be thankful for what you have and find good in everything.

Bow-Tie sees the bright side of lifeThere is good in everything.

Sometimes we have to look a little harder than other times, but we can find good if we look.

Bow-Tie and Annie Sullivan say Happy ThanksgivingHappy Thanksgiving, my dear friends.

Don’t eat too much turkey!

Love,
