Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – October 16, 2017

Bow-TIe with medicinDear Friends,

My concern is always for the kitties who don’t have homes yet.

My bigger concern is for special needs kitties like me.

Special needs kitties sometimes have a harder time finding homes.

That doesn’t stop Cat Depot from taking these guys in and helping them.

Kissa showing her legLet me introduce Kissa…

…isn’t she a pretty girl?

Two Cat Depot staff members saw a group of people on the road one night.

They surrounded Kissa, who had just been hit by a car.

What did they do?

They sprung into action, scooped her up, and took her to the emergency clinic.

Isn’t that cool?

KissaShe was evaluated and stabilized at the emergency clinic.

The next day, she came to Cat Depot.

The medical staff went to work on her.

She had an external fixator placed on her leg.

Now, I’m not sure what that is, but I’m sure it was necessary.

I’m assuming it’s that cute blue thing.

Kissa in the cone of shameShe also got what we cats call… The Cone of Shame.

It helps us not lick or chew a wound. Not a good look, though.

Thanks to staff members who were off the clock and still sprung into action.

Thanks to medical staff who know their stuff.

And thankfully, Kissa is on the mend and will be available for adoption when she’s well.

Kissa looking upShe’s a beauty.

Isn’t that a happy story?

Bow-TieI nose you like happy stories!

Have a great week.

Where did Columbus first land in America?

Answer:

On his feet!

Ha ha ha!

Now I am being serious.

I’m proud to be an American cat.

Who was the first cat to discover America?

Christopher Columpuss!

Ha ha ha!

Sorry.

Now I’m being serious again.

We all need to be proud of America.

We have freedom and a country we can love.

Let’s take care of our country and of each other.

The cats are cute

They made a treat jar in honor of me!

Bow-Tie head to headI have to believe that’s what they did.

I love him so much.

He looks just like me.

Have you seen my bow tie?Dear Friends,

I have a great new toy.

See my bow tie?

It’s fish, right?

My bow tie matches my new toyWell, don’t you know only the best dressed cat matches his toys?

Look how well my bow tie matches my new tunnel toy.

Have you seen my tunnel? What’s a tunnel toy?

It’s only the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.

It’s a long skinny tube thing that crinkles when I touch it.

I can run all the way through it, and it makes a fun noise.

I like to hide stuff in the hole

It has a really neat hole right in the middle.

I can run out of the hole or jump into it.

This hole is great for playing

Sometimes I put toys in the hole and hide them from myself.

I like my crinkle ballSometimes I just like to relax on it and chew my crinkle ball.

Perfect for stretching out on

Sometimes I like to just stretch out on it and relax.

Bow-Tie showing off his bow tieAll in all, this is the best toy I’ve ever seen…

…and I’m so thankful it’s mine.

Bow-Tie makes new friends with easeDear Friends,

This is me this weekend.

I’m not going to fool you; it’s not a good time in Florida.

It is a time for us all to seek safety and to help others less fortunate.

I’m a cat of my word and I do what I say I will do.

Meet a little blind baby who has come to spend the storm with me.

Close up

She snuggled up to me right away.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – August 28, 2017

Bow-Tie shows off his ruler tieDear Everyone,

I’ve got a very specific bow tie on today.

And a very specific reason for wearing it.

How do you like it?

It has rulers on it.

This message is all about measuring up.

You’ll notice I’ll be using a lot of analytical terms here.

(Well, as many as I can comfortably throw into my message.)

Bow-Tie poses with toolsSo, what are the tools of measuring?

There are many and they come in different shapes and sizes.

Bow-Tie doesn't know what to do with the toolsQuite frankly though…

…I’m not sure how to use any of them.

Bow-Tie looking cute with his rulerWhy am I talking about measuring, then?

(I actually got myself confused there for a minute.)

Seriously though, what I want to talk about is how to adopt a cat.

Humans go to the shelter to size up the potential adoption candidate.

Humans expect the cat to measure up to their specifications.

Humans assess all the candidates.

Humans evaluate and analyze everything before they make a decision.

That isn’t how you adopt a cat.

You let the cat pick you.

You go to the shelter and stand there.

The cat who wants you will come to you and sit on your lap or rub against your leg.

Done.

The cat chooses you, and cats always pick the right human.

Bow-Tie laughs at humansHumans make us laugh.

They always make things so difficult.

Go to a shelter.

Let a cat pick you.

Live happily ever after.

The length of time it takes to meet isn’t important.

What’s important is the depth of the heart.

Bow-Tie says, "I'm outta here"Done.

I’m outta here.

Bow-Tie with Blueberry hidingDear Friends,

Remember my sister, Blueberry?

She’s the nearly blind kitty who was rescued from a horrible house.

The Cat Depot Community Cat team went in and saved her.

They nicknamed her “Turtle Girl,” because she stayed under a blanket.

She was so afraid.

With love and time she has blossomed into a beautiful, happy girl.

Blueberry

Now Blueberry has a very purrsonal request for a very purrsonal reason.

Meet Silver…

Silver

…Silver is Blueberry’s mother!

She was rescued by the same team from the same horrible house.

Silver is only three years old and has already had at least two litters of kittens.

Silver and Dr. RiusAnd Silver has another problem.

She was so hungry she tried to get food from a mousetrap.

The mousetrap caught her paw and cut it off.

No one knew she was hurt, and no one helped her.

She healed all on her own, and now walks just fine on her little stump.

SilverAfter everything Silver has been through, she deserves some love and a safe home.

She’s a little shy at first, but very affectionate and loving when given a gentle hand.

If she had a quiet home to regain her trust she would blossom, just like Blueberry.

This isn’t a sad story.

This is a happy story, because Silver is safe at Cat Depot for now and has medical care.

Thank you to Cat Depot’s Community Cat team for helping Blueberry’s mom.

Bow-Tie licking BlueberryLet’s all help Silver find her forever home and forever family to love her.

If Blueberry found it, her mom can find it too.

Let’s all believe together!

Thanks everyone.

Good luck, Silver.

Bow-Tie is proud and braggingDear Friends,

My only goal in life is to promote special needs cats.

My personality style is to be humble in my message.

Today I break that mold.

Today I am going to be all about bragging.

I am all puffed up with pride.

Not for me, but for my sister Courage.

Courage comes from a hoarding environment like I did.

Her neglect caused her to lose her eyes.

But Courage lives up to her name and just achieved something outstanding.

Bow-Tie reads to CourageLet me read her award plaque.

It says:

Southeast Region 2017

Twenty-third Best Household Pet of the Year

RW TGM Courage

Courage and Bow-TieThat means in the multi-state Southeast Region, out of the top 100 cats, Courage is number 23!

Quite an accomplishment for a little girl with a rough start and special needs.

The letters before her name?

Well, they mean Regional Winner (RW) Triple Grand Master (TGM.)

Impressive.

Courage sticks her tongue outWait!

(Oh, she did not…

…is she sticking her tongue out? Little snob.)

Bow-Tie tells Courage, "Well Done" Anyway…

Courage can’t see her beautiful plaque or her big ribbon,

but she can hear me when I tell her how proud I am of her.

Courage high fivesHer success shows what an animal can do with love and caring in spite of obstacles.

Courage says, “High five for special needs!”

Courage with her ribbonAnd we all say, “Congratulations, RW TGM Courage!”

We’re very proud of you.

Thanks for letting me brag.

Bow-Tie wants sunDear Everyone,

I’ve been a little out of sorts this week…

…hence my down in the dumps look.

Bow-Tie walks in the grassI like to go outside for short walks in the sunshine.

It has been raining so much here it has been very difficult for me to take my stroll.

The grass is way past my knees.

I don’t like it touching my tummy.

Bow-Tie has to lift his feetI also don’t like to have to lift my paws way up in the air in order to walk.

It makes me look funny and I don’t like looking funny.

Bow-Tie close upWe know it has to rain in order for things to grow.

Some days I even enjoy the rain.

But a guy has to get some sunshine once in a while.

Sunshine makes me happy.

Bow-Tie looking upSo I’ll just look up and check the weather each day.

If I get all squinty from the sunshine, I’ll take a walk.

If raindrops fall into my nose, I’ll stay inside.

Bow-Tie looking statelyThat’s the weather check according to me.

And there’s weather everywhere, don’t ya know!

See you next week.

Bow-Tie’s Bulletin – July 31, 2017

There was excitement in our house this weekHi Everybody,

There was some excitement in our house this week.

It all started when an envelope came, addressed to Rembrandt Red.

It was from Whitey Wobbles.

(More on this envelope mess later.)

Mixie loved the padsMixie was there when the envelope was opened.

She very quickly discovered it contained catnip pads!

The beautiful card from Whitey Wobbles said his sister Daisy and brother Harley love them.

Clearly, Mixie loves them too.

The card also said they were for Rembrandt Red (Remi) and Buddy Van Gogh.

So off to the studio we went.

Remi with BuddyBuddy was the first to jump on the pad.

He motioned for Remi to come up with him, and she did.

Remi tells Buddy the pad is hersShe told him the envelope was addressed to her, and she should have the best seat.

Buddy didn't care that Remi wanted the good spotIn typical big brother fashion…

…Buddy told her that was tough. He wasn’t moving.

Remi says, "I have my own pad"Remi had a solution.

She moved the other pad to her own location and enjoyed it for hours.

Why are we talking about a torn envelope?By now you must wonder what happened with the envelope.

And why are we talking about a ripped envelope anyway?

Annie Sullivan playing with the envelopeBecause little blind Annie Sullivan thought the envelope WAS the gift!

And she had a fine time playing with it all by herself.

Ha ha ha

Thank you Whitey Wobbles, Daisy Doodle, and Harley!

The catnip pads were a great success.

Love to everyone,

Bow-Tie
The Dapper Gent
